Rush lied about:
911 Commission report
He claimed that no one ever said there was a connection between Iraq and 911.
About AIDS
He doesn't know what the minimum wage actually is
About the Kyoto Protocol
and MUCH MORE...
He is NOT a smart person anything he says can be proven wrong, a lie, or well, just wrong.
Here, let me just put it this way, I began listening to Rush in '06 when the news stories were saying that he was making fun of Michael J Fox and his disease. I heard his explanation, I watched the video of the show (not the one that the media sped up and looped), and I listened to Michael J Fox's response (that said Rush was correct in his analysist. Fox said he sometimes did not take his med's to show what Parkansan's does.)
I did not like Rush before this because I was told he was a right wing cook on the pay of Republicans and that he was a drug addict.
I did the research myself. I recorded his shows (for a while until I realized he offered transcripts on his web- site.) and then picked them apart. For almost three months, whenever I could record the show, I would. I tried to prove him wrong on anything I could. I just couldn't do it. He provided sources on almost everything he said and he built his arguments off of news stories. They were logical and solid.
I say this because I know there are people who have the same opinion of him that I used to have because that is what they were told. Every few weeks we see a news story that takes something Rush says out of context. On the basis of media reporting alone, he sounds like an angry, racist, ant-American, lapdog of the Republican party. When the context is added, he is very logical, optomistic, and patriotic.
This is why I am saying this, do what I did, see for yourself. Try to listen to his show for... one week. Try to find the lies you have been hearing about. Try to find the sexism or racism you have been hearing about. Attempt this with an open mind and I guarantee that you will see what I am talking about.
