The experiences we have, no matter what they are, become a part of what we end up believing, including spirituality. We may walk away for awhile or teach what our parents taught us. Some people feel badly when they begin questioning concepts such as God, creationism, the Other Side etc. and their place in life as they've experienced it. Has your faith or concept of spirituality changed from what you were taught growing up? Has it become more, are you at a crossroad, or need to make amends? I'm true to my faith but at times Iquestion my feelings on intuition.I think to myself "am I over exaggerrating". But then I come to my senses. But whats holding me back from myself is fear....

Interesting article...I have always had a skeptical streak, and I think that's what drew me to Buddhism, because it is very empirical and questioning in practice. But over time, I had more experiences, and actually started embracing other traditions, including Christianity, which I was raised in. Now I don't label myself anything, although my beliefs probably still most closely align with Buddhism, and I consider my spirituality a very fluid thing. I feel like not allowing questions to arise, including doubt, would make me too dogmatic, as if I was imposing a doctrine from the outside in, instead of feeling my way along from the inside out...

hi truesong I think having skeptism, when it comes to intuition is a priceless attribute, really. You almost have to be, if you want to develop it or just work with it, especially with investigation work. Fear works on people too, especially in groups. I know when I go out, I'm a bit nervous in the beginning. Once i get into the house, if someone wants to know what's going on inside, I almost expect what they are saying to be true. With skepticism, I can sort through a lot of the emotions behind what everyone is feeling and ask the right questions. ________________________________ Elleise Clairvoyance Editor

I think what you've described, Lisa, is where I'm at for the most part. Looking back, we were raised Catholic, I see now that Faith is what we see it or percieve it to be at any given moment. If you believe in a God that makes things happen for you if you pray hard enough, than that's what you'll tend to notice. I remember someone telling me over lunch that their church prayed for a man in the hospital before surgery and it went perfectly. But there's the aspect of what would happen if the person's surgery didn't go well after prayer. It kind of seems that the story of someone who had faith after having every rug pulled out from under them, with a story of how faith got them through it would be more, to me anyway, what faith is all about. I believe more in energy than a parent type figure which our church taught us to believe in. _______________________________ Elleise Clairvoyance Editor Elleise's Homepage

You're welcome Try not to let your fear consume you. I don't know of one clairvoyant or psychic who doesn't get a little nervous about what they're feeling. Even if it has to do with worrying about being wrong interpreting something. I think it's just part of being human. _________________________ Elleise Clairvoyance Editor Elleis's Homepage

Hi, Eleise. As you know, I've been struggling with this topic for a long time. My own spiritual and religious beliefs have undergone major transformations.
I like what Lisa said: "Now I don't label myself anything, although my beliefs probably still most closely align with Buddhism, and I consider my spirituality a very fluid thing. I feel like not allowing questions to arise, including doubt, would make me too dogmatic, as if I was imposing a doctrine from the outside in, instead of feeling my way along from the inside out..."
To me, the God I remember is both a real physical figure as well as energy. He can assume all forms. Beyond that, I'm trying to feel my way along from the inside out, as Lisa said.
For too long doctrines have been imposed upon me. From the time I was small, I believed in and experienced God. And yet, I have been drawn to metaphysics and even the occult-type practices. Religions frown upon that and made me feel as though I was toying with devilish things.
I have experienced enough to know for myself at least that evil, or negative energy, does exist. Of course, I want to stay away from that. And I was forewarned to stay away from mediums and psychics as well. But gee. They sound as though they're saying, "Stone the evil witches!"
I suppose we're taught to rely on our faith instead of the seers. To heed the still small voice within that is a gift from God.
Some may call it intuition; others the Holy Spirit.
But is it evil to want to learn how to hear this "voice"...and to find someone who can teach how to strengthen this gift?
The thing is that I have vivid dreams that are very prophetic. I can tell who is calling on the phone nearly every single time (without caller ID. LOL.)I can feel when people are thinking of me (I have felt you thinking of me, for example.) I "see" people in my mind's eye who are just passing spirits popping in to be seen. And lately, I have been catching glimpses of our deceased cat. A lot of times, I can tell what people are thinking and feeling. I can feel energy from plants.
My husband thinks I have an overactive imagination. Maybe it is imagination. Maybe it isn't. I have spent many years trying to cut this part of me out, but it only ends up making me feel insane.
I don't know what to do.

HUGE ((((HUGS)))) First off, I make it a rule never to tell a person what to do. It was, actually a very hard thing for me to learn - not to act on what I felt. I'm going to go out on a limb here and tell you what to do, lol. Make your mind up today, NOT, to be anything less than who and what your are. I promise it's the one step I can absolutely guarantee your life will improve (emotionally) on. In all honesty, I am always leery of psychics and mediums. I have this innate sense to stay away, especially from commercial ones. I have to meet the person to feel if they are on the up and up. Far too many people like the dependance they recieve from clients and the money they make instilling desperation, fear, excitement, etc. I know my reading are fairly straight forward. I visit other sites and they are really enticing. I don't get a great deal of attention but they are the kind of readings I really want to do for people i.e., classes, healing energy, helping them empower themselves. I know, I've been there, where religions - parents, etc. people, can make you feel as if you are doing something wrong in comeing out of your "Psychic Shell." I've got the shell damage to prove it, lol. What finally made me decide to be who I am was that the pain of denying it outweighed the public scrutiny I was recieving. I kept all of my intutions to myself and when I couldnt' take it anymore would confide in a well meaning friend or acquaintance who either wanted a reading or lectured me about "staying away from false prophets." I beleive it is good advice to stay away from false prophets, but that doens't necessarily mean that all prophets are horrible, evil or of the Devil/negative force side of energy. I've been lucky so far in meeting, especially through readings/consultations and classes (healing/dev) meeting sincere people really seeking empowering help and understanding of their own gifts. I believe wholeheartedly, what you put out will infact come back to you - best foot forward in faith of who you are. ____________________________ Elleise Clairvoyance Editor Intuitive Development Classes
