If you could dress however you wanted every day, out in public, without any negative reprecussions whatsoever, how would you dress? Do you think your self-perceptions would change if you did dress the way you wanted?
Speaking for myself, I'm not slender, but I like my body. If I dwell on it, there are things about my appearance I'd prefer differently, but when I do think about my body, I'm more likely to think of something I like, like my face and my long hair. I believe that if I dressed more in line with how I secretly see myself, I'd like myself even more, and would probably make in-roads towards improving the few things I don't like without too much sacrifice. What I'd like to wear is hardly outlandish, but I'm stymied by self-doubt when it comes to buying anything. I always imagine the money would be better spent on something else.
To answer my own question, I'd like to wear rather long and flowy skirts or jeans, warm sweaters or layered long-sleeved knit shirts (with decently long waists!), low heeled dress boots, scarves, and tailored coats or jackets. I have a weakness for fingerless gloves and soft, cable knit thigh high socks, too.

Gypsy-ish, Bohemian, handkerchief hem skirts, peasant blouses. Slacks with tunic tops.
I know - kinda like Rhoda on The Mary Tyler Moore Show, but without the headband thing.

If I could dress however I wanted? LOL! I'd probably wear formal gowns all the time. In all my day-to-day stuff I tend to think more like a guy (love horror, action/adventure, etc.) But when it comes to clothes I LOVE girly stuff. My daughter and I were at the store today, and I just had to take a stroll through the shoe section (I have a serious shoe and hat addiction). I was good and didn't buy anything, but it was a close call. But the times that I have always felt the best about myself, the prettiest were the times that my husband and I went to his company's formal ball during the holidays. I got to really glam up - formal gown, great shoes, sparkly jewelry, sexy makeup and hair. Of course it would make T-balls games more interesting.

Easy. Jeans and, depending on the weather, a t-shirt, sweatshirt, or sweater. Shoes depend on where I'm going and the weather - either moosie mocs, hiking boots, or knee high rubber boots.

I'd wear sun dresses with my fav shades, high heel sandles and a tropical bag to match with of course sweet smelling parfum. I could see myself go with this get-up everyday.

I am very lucky in that I work from home so I always get to wear whatever I want. Which is usually PJs and sweats. I am all for comfort. I do like to dress in formal wear for going to fancy restaurants, which is very rare. So those are my extremes. Most of the time it's sweats and snuggly socks and I am very content.

Lisa, that's exactly how I feel being at home mostly, but every now and then I have to make myself get out of the jammies, socks and hair clips. But hey, I'm with you, if up to me and not having a hubbie that prefers to see me look nice when he gets home, I'd wear your exact description everday.

I feel that I'm more productive when I'm comfortable, sweats and sneakers. However, when I go to work I can't dress that way so it's dress pants and mules so I can take my shoes off under my desk in my office.
