Hi Linda,

First of all, WELCOME to BellaOnline! I look forward to reading your articles.

I used to be a labor and delivery nurse and I know first hand how welcome those donated blankets are. Pregnancy losses come at all stages of development and some of the smallest blankets are frequently the most needed. We had handmade blankets just mailed to us and were so grateful to get them. Most crocheters wouldn't think to make blankets only 12 inches square, but for a very tiny fetus they are perfect.

I'm sure any hospital that has an L&D unit would be happy to have very small blankets donated.

Hi CrochetQueen,

All crafts for charities is also a great one. They list many charities for just about any crafts there are. Bev is a member there also.

Helen you are so right about people not knowing about the tiny blankets and such that can be used by many hospitals. I hope we can inform our many members of the the needs.

Thanks for the warm welcome.
Linda

That is definitely a great idea, it gives you something to do with your time and it helps out people who really need it! I love the idea of crocheting for charity!

Hi Helen,

Do you know of any charties that use dolls? I have heard of a lady that refurberses dolls and gives them to charity.

I would love to know if there are any doll folks that do this.

I would like to maybe get some crocheters making clothes for these dolls. Indian reservations, low income area and ministries could use these.

Wouldn't that be a nice project? Just a thought.

Any ideas?

Great article. When I went through cancer treatment a few years ago my oncologist had a box of crocheted caps that had been created and donated by a local church group. I really appreciated being able to select a few to wear.

We foster rescue dogs and I learned how to crochet so that I could make a little blanket/crate pad for each dog when they are adopted to their forever home. I hope to get caught up with my projects so that I can make extra to take to our local shelter.

Hello Merwyn and Rhonda,

Great ideas, there are so many needs that we don't know about. Thanks so much for sharing.

I also have to tiny furbabies I enjoy crocheting sweaters for them too.
