Ok so today I was determined to make a salad to take to lunch instead of buying the $7.99 lb salad bar. Safeway had a really good sale. $1.99 for a bag of the mixed greens. $1.99 for a carton of those cherry tomattoes. They had "light" Ken's Steakhouse salad dressing for $1.50 a bottle. Great prices!!! But needless to say by the time I finished buying healthy I was still at the same price as buying the $7.99 salad bar!!! It made me chuckle...
The good news is that by buying a large bag of greens, basket of tomatoes, and bottle of salad dressing -- you have the fixings for more than one salad which probably cuts your per lunch expense in half!
