What is the purpose of mirror placement in Feng Shui ? Is there a particular focal point for the mirror ?

Mirrors are used to redirect chi in feng shui, most often to reflect away "sha" which is the word for bad chi.

Placement will vary depending on what needs to be redirected. I will defer to the host of this forum to go into more detail about that.

With just the understanding that the mirror will reflect the "sha" away, it is a good beginning.I do not need any negative energy. Thanks Rae, every little bit helps.

Let's get this started again.

Mirrors can be good or negative depending on how you use them.

One place you do not want to use a mirror is in the bedroom, especially if you can see it from your bed. The reason for this is that it can pick up on the smallest amount of light. If you wake up during the night you might see a reflection that startles you. It can be a reflection of yourself, a blowing curtain or a pet walking by. No matter what it is if you are startled while sleeping it is sure to affect the rest of your nights sleep. Without a good nights sleep your whole day is affected.

Have you had an experience with reflections in a mirror? Tell us about it here.

It depends on what type of mirrors you are talking about here.

"Ba gua" is an octagon-shaped mirror commonly used by feng shui practitioners to ward off negative "chi" (energy) from your house.

However, it is not meant to be used unnecessary. Your house may already have good energy flowing in and putting a "ba gua" there might just cause the positive "chi" to flow out.

Hope I helped.
