I got mine but now I'm hearing bad things. Is anybody else getting one?

I'm not getting one, but my husband works on a college campus and since there is rampant flu every year he just got a flu shot. He gets sick every year he doesn't get a shot. The doc told him it's not a live virus that they inject in you so you can't get sick, but I'll leave the shot alone. I've never gotten a flu shot as an adult and the only time I ever got the flu was after visiting the hospital ward this summer to see my brother. I'll take my chances.

I've gotten them before but have still come down with the flu. There are so many strains. One shot can't cover them all.
Some people have a bad reaction to them as was the case with my husband. He had a severe allergic reaction and had to be taken to emergency. I've never had a bad reaction but after his experience I'm pretty leary of them.

I am holding it off this year as I don't work with medical patients anymore.
Sheree, Your husband's reaction to the flu shot must have been scary. Is he allergic to eggs as well? Some research says that.

I get mine every year. What I do before I get it is take 2 tylenols an hour before i get my shot and a few hours after the shot i take 2 more. i never had a reaction, just felt a little tired is all. its worth it in the long run, you dont want to get the flu! i have heard they last the entire flu season.

Me and my kids got ours Saturday. I was extrememly tired from mine and my arm was sore. Both the kids complained about sore arms. My son has come down with a cold now. I guess the shot lowered his immune system a little let a bug in. Other then that, it is fine. I got the shots with the preservative in that people are saying causes autism.

Everyone in our household, kids included, gets the flu shot (not a live virus) every year. Within the household, we have three people with asthma, 1 person over 65, and one person (me), with cardiac issues. Flu is a dangerous option for us; and its a best practice to attempt to reduce our likelihood of succumbing to the bug by vaccinating.
The limited exposure to lead from Thimerosol is not a worry for us. People who eat tuna have higher lead exposure.
