A pressure cooker is different than a crockpot. My momma put the fear of God into me regarding pressure cooking so I didn't use one until I was in my 40's! It's wonderful! Cooks everything quickly and falls apart tender! I buy "Better than Boullion" in a jar (chicken and beef). Brown roasts, chops, etc and cover with bouillon dissolved in water..sprinkle a bit of Lawrys etc over the meat and cook. I run cold water over the lid to help bring the steam down. NEVER OPEN IT WHEN STILL STEAMING! I don't even think you can because mine has a lock. I also throw fresh green beans, onions and small potatoes from our garden in with a bit of water and (only cause hubby is pure country) a bit of maple bacon cut up.... bring up to pressure and cook for 20 minutes...IS AMAZING! So..looks like mine is going with us! :)
