A pressure cooker is different than a crockpot. My momma put the fear of God into me regarding pressure cooking so I didn't use one until I was in my 40's! It's wonderful! Cooks everything quickly and falls apart tender! I buy "Better than Boullion" in a jar (chicken and beef). Brown roasts, chops, etc and cover with bouillon dissolved in water..sprinkle a bit of Lawrys etc over the meat and cook. I run cold water over the lid to help bring the steam down. NEVER OPEN IT WHEN STILL STEAMING! I don't even think you can because mine has a lock. I also throw fresh green beans, onions and small potatoes from our garden in with a bit of water and (only cause hubby is pure country) a bit of maple bacon cut up.... bring up to pressure and cook for 20 minutes...IS AMAZING! So..looks like mine is going with us! :)

What a great idea! And, I can see why it sounds scary at first. I use Better than Bouillion vegan no chicken base and it is amazing. It turns my lentil stew into a magical feast. I'll have to get my hands on a pressure cooker and see what kinds of fun recipes I can make with one. It sounds like a fabulous addition to an RV trip!

No, it's not. It cooks just the opposite! Really fast....it's gotten bad press in the past but if you use common sense (run cold water over it when done and do NOT take the pressure gauge off until completely depressurized) it is a life saver! Cook pork chops, beef, all sorts of things in less than 1/2 hr!
