Why is she being singled out? Because she has not two, but FIVE kids. Because she's from Alaska, which is a conservative state and has been staunchly republican since oil was discovered there. Because she's a female governor who is still quite young. She represents a contradiction to most of us on this board, as a young woman who has a high-powered career but is also pro-gun, pro-abstinence, anti-sex ed and has a pregnant teenaged daughter. Women in powerful positions serve as role models for other women, because there are still so few of them. They're seen as reprenting all women. She's only the second vice presidential candidate ever, so naturally everything she says and does gets dissected.
Obama, while I'm sure is a role model for many of us, probably doesn't raise as many concerns because he's male, has two children who are still too young to get into any scrapes, and is very liberal.
