I've made a vow to myself to have more fun. When a friend asked me what I did for fun and I couldn't think of anything, I decided I needed to look a little closer at my life. The only thing that came to mind revolved around going away - nothing around home.

That was a major eye-opener for me!

So, I decided to
start a FUN Diary and I hope you'll join me.

I'm going to post my progress in my quest for making time more time to have fun. Please join me and let me know how you're making more time in your life for fun too.

My goal is to post everyday and share the "fun" I'm having. If I'm struggliing that day to find "fun" I'll let you know that too.

What do you think? Does that sound like fun? Write along with me. Add you thoughts to this thread.

Together we can support one another in living a more relaxed and enjoyable life. I look forward to sharing my FUN Diary with you.

~Sharon

Since I suggested this diary - I'll start.

8/14/08

Last night my husband Oleg and I went to see Kenny G in concert. We had fabulous seats - on the center aisle close to the stage. He was great! You can tell he loves what he does and is passionate about music. Kenny G actually came out into the audience and played. On his way back to the stage he shook my husband's hand - that was cool.

It was fun and yet I have to confess I found myself thinking about the other things I should be doing. And if our dog was okay home alone during a thunder storm.

See what I mean about having "fun" issues. I say the first step to change is recognizing the challenge -I'm beginning to truly recognize my "fun" challenges.

I grew up in a household that didn't have too much fun - if you had time for fun then you weren't working hard enough. My parents had a lot of old baggage left over from the living through the depression. Intellectually I know that was then and this is now. Emotionally those old programs are buried deep in my unconscious mind.

I can and will change my internal programs - it'll take time but I'm determined to do it. That's why I decided to start this FUN Diary. I want to have more fun!

I'll write again tomorrow.

~Sharon

I was recently asked to participate in a conference for mothers where the theme was, basically, how to make parenting more fun. It seemed like the more I focused on it, the more I found myself saying "Oh, this is FUN!"

Scenarios like - shopping with all four children and all four of them MELTING at once, or my son drawing a blue highway around the whole entire house so that he had a road for his car, or my two year old daughter helping herself to cereal and dumping the entire box on the floor and then stepping on it to hear the lovely crunching sound.... etc. You know the moments. There are many more with many more details.

Point is - Every time I said "Oh, this is FUN." or "THIS is fun". or even "This IS fun."... it changed the whole experience.

I'm not sure I'll be able to keep a fun diary, but I love the idea of focusing on it! Thanks for your idea.

Well, I'm struggling already. I don't think I did anything FUN yesterday.

The washer machine broke and we had to buy a new one. I'm grateful we are able to buy one but it wasn't exactly fun.

This maybe harder than I thought. I need some remedial "fun" training.

I'm digging deep here --- I ate an ice cream bar. That was fun.

I'll keep writing and sharing even though I'm probably going to humiliate myself in the process.

Until tomorrow,
~Sharon

Today i giggled with a child while making snake families (folding sheets) at work. My bosses children start school on wednesday and so we get them here at work a couple hours a day while they wait for their dad to get off work and pick them up.

Yesterday, after a stressful day at work, I ordered Chinese take-out and watched the olympics all-around finals for the women, and some swimming.

Today I watched SpongeBob SquarePants and ate half a pint of Ben and Jerry's Phish Food Ice Cream with my 4 year old. That was fun except she wanted all of the chocolate fishys in it. lol.

I'm really beginning to focus on how I can have fun. I want to be able to write something in this on-line diary but I'm also finding myself actually wanting to have fun!

Yesterday morning my husband and I went to an estate sale. That was fun looking at everything and talking with the hostess. It's great to get the story behind the sale. We found a couple of "treasures." We had a good time just being together.

What did you do for FUN yesterday?

We are introducing a new software system at work. Our customer service team has had to continue with their jobs, while learning the system. We go live on Monday.

I am the receptionist - but also admin for customer service. My job was to make "posters" to hang on the wall showing the benefits of the new system.

I got to play with different fonts, use clip art, color with markers.......it was fun and used my creativity....

Today I got to gossip and catch up with one of my former clients. She was one of my first clients out of beauty school and when the shop I was at closed suddenly 4.5 years ago, we lost touch.

Yesterday she found me and today I did her hair. It was a blast from the past ;0)

Good morning everyone! I'm excited to write today because I had FUN yesterday.

I had a hair appointment with my good friend Michael and we had a great time laughing and talking. On the way home I stopped and got my husband and I real milk shakes from Cold Stone ice cream.

Honestly, this is helping me focus on finding ways to have more fun.

Speaking for fun - I won't be writing for a few days because I'm taking this "fun stuff" seriously and going away by myself for three days. No computers, no schedules - just sleeping, eating, reading and relaxing. I've never done this before in my life! This is such a treat and I'm so excited. I bought the new Sandra Brown book and I'm ready to relax and have fun.

Thanks for participating and please keep writing.
