I think the Confederate flag represents to some people a way of life that is gone in some respects but still very much alive in others. The South was all about family, chilvary, lore, song and foods/hospitality that is still very much alive. A way of life that their ancestors held near and dear, a remembrance of Sons of the South who lost their lives for what they believed in. Anyone has a right to display this flag in their homes as part of their heritage and ancestral memories. To use it, or any other flag, as a negative connotation or an "in your face" thing is not right. But to keep it as part of a family history is a personal choice and a right.
