I'm actually getting really discouraged with my weight loss.
Because.
I've not lost any! I was 160 when I started my dieting and exercise and, even though I've lost 4 inches from my hips and waist, I -still- weigh 160!
I'm at a size 10 and I've been really working to get to an 8 by the end of this month. So, I need more than just 5 pounds at this point to make that goal...which started out at the beginning of June as really reasonable! I do cardio twice a week, plus my weight-routine 3 days a week and eat healthy. Maybe I'm missing something... >.>

you have to remember that muscle WEIGHS MORE than fat. You are getting healthy while loosing inches. Just because your weight hasn't gone down doesn't mean you aren't getting healthy and loosing "weight". Too many times we get stuck on weight and lose sight of the goal... getting healthier.
Me, in 5 years I have lost 150 pounds going from my start of 444. For the longest time I didn't lose weight but was getting smaller. Now years later, i am down a couple more sizes and not loosing the weight like I'd like. However, I must remember that i am gaining muscle and therefore i might not lose pounds.
keep your head up, young buck!

Kryssie - I was having the *exact* same thing happen to me which is why I went out and bought a scale that measures muscle mass. It uses the foot electrical system technique, just like the scales that measure your fat content. It is SO helpful. That way you can see exactly what is going on in your body. It is definitely likely that you are losing fat and gaining muscle - which long term is AWESOME. Muscle just by "existing" burns more calories than fat does. So once your body gets adjusted to this new configuration you'll burn fat even more quickly than before. You just need to give it a little time to get situated in its new setup. Are you drinking lots of water every day and taking vitamins? Both of those are critical to helping your body metabolize properly. Are you currently having your period? We've really found that weight gain stalls during that week and then starts up again afterwards. Are you doing a full hour each of those five days? Is there any way you can add on yoga or walking on the remaining days? If you get in an hour of workout every day, it can really make a big difference

Jase - do you have access to a fat and water scale? You might want to try one, that will help you calculate the changes and give you a sense of progress A muscle mass scale is even better but those are harder to come by. If you want, we can definitely help you lose pounds at a faster rate. About how many a week are you losing right now?

I'll have to price those. Are you drinking lots of water every day and taking vitamins? Both of those are critical to helping your body metabolize properly.
It's been so hot, I've been drinking water, tea, iced coffee, and Coke Zero just to keep my blood sugar up and stay hydrated. Are you currently having your period? We've really found that weight gain stalls during that week and then starts up again afterwards. I've been manic/depressed, irritable and have a whacked sleep schedule. More than likely I'll be starting soon... which sucks because we're going to Chicago for the weekend. >.< Are you doing a full hour each of those five days? Is there any way you can add on yoga or walking on the remaining days? If you get in an hour of workout every day, it can really make a big difference I've never done hour workouts. I push myself hard for about 30 minutes each day. By the time I'm done, my muscles hurt (which is good...it's a good hurt). Even my cardio days are a TOTAL of 30-40 minutes (20 minute walk to and from my chiropractor's...if I just walk and don't walk/jog/run). I swim at least once a week--more for self preservation in this blasted heat than anything. I always FEEL wonderful after my workouts--especially on days I don't want to do them and force myself. Also, Tuesday I'll get more information, but there is a cleanse my Chiropractor told me about that she said is -very- good for losing weight and keeping it off and -very- healthy. It's just expensive...

well I am down to about 230 now. My problem with loosing more weight than I am at the moment is the exercise. With my back, knee and ankle problems (not from weight but injuries when I was younger and a dancer and in sports like cheer, volleyball, and tennis), it makes it harder to do more of the excerices that I would need to lose more weight faster.
My concern is losing healthily which I am. This is the first winter I actually LOST weight! LOL My cholesterol is only 180, the good chol. is great.. can't remember the number off the top of my head. My bp is excellent. My asthma is great, I am not using my inhaler all the time now. My allergies arne't as bad. My migraines are almost non-exsistant.
so overall, I am in great health while still being large. Now if I could just get all this skin to shrink which would also help with the excercise issues LOL

(not from weight but injuries when I was younger and a dancer and in sports like cheer, volleyball, and tennis) I think I'm the only person alive who can say the chipped a tooth AND injured their jaw cheerleading. Basket-toss. On-the-job training. I was the other base. I never had a fade to black before...and I don't think I ever want to NOT FEEL MY FACE ever again... >.<

Kryssie,
My 10 yr old does competitive cheerleading, and it is rough!
Since she's so little, she's of course one of the flyers. But she got dropped one too many times last season, and absolutely refused to go up into one of the stunts anymore - the coaches had to completly rework the "pyramid" (they still call it that - although it deosn't look anything like one anymore).
There was actually a college cheerleader who was killed this past season from getting kicked in the chest during a stunt. It broke ribs and collapsed one of her lungs.
It is not the same "sport" that it was when I was in school. It is hardcore now.

I was still 134.6 this morning!! I began by thinking "I'm under 135! I'm under 135!" and then I said NO NO NO. I should be thinking "I'm nearing 130! I'm nearing 130!" It is a whole mindset change for me. I am going to do up signs with "130!!" with flowers around them and hang them in my bathroom and bedroom. It really has helped me with healthy eating. I never ate "really badly" before but I would have pita chips and hummis all day for example. Healthy in small doses, not healthy in larger doses It's not that it made me *gain* weight - but my aim here is to lose weight. So I have to eat more mindfully for a while until I hit my chosen weight, and at that point I can then eat more freely again to maintain it.
