My latest article is all about growing tomatoes . Check it out and let me know what you think. What types of tomatoes are your favorite? I love Cherry tomatoes (so yummy grilled in things like shishkabobs!)and Romas-nothing better for sauce! smile

I love cherry tomatoes, too, because they are just the right size for salads, and grow best here in The Netherlands with our 3 month growing season 5/15 to 8/15 - our frost-free dates.

We grew up eating big bland tomatoes and I always hated them. It was only when I found the little ones in salads that I realized I could like them. I do try to have a few on each salad I eat. I definitely like growing the littles ones in my garden, so I always have a supply for my salads. They're also easy to give away to friends.

OK I have six tomato plants out in my garden now! They are all the 100s (the little ones). Now to see if they grow!

I will take some photos when the plants are a little larger.

I had grown some plants from seed but they all dried up and died - we had a hot, dry spring!!

I also have some eggplant and squash out there.

The little grape tomatoes are my favorites. They are so sweet and delicious. They make a great snack by themselves or served with dip.

Lisa, I'd love to see the photos of your garden.

I prefer the beefsteak tomatoes. If they are grown with little water, watering only when the leaves start to wilt, then they get real "meaty" and are not half water inside. They are great on sandwhiches or sliced thick, sprinkled with parmesan, salt, pepper and a little garlic and broiled.

Lemon Boys are also very good!

I never met a tomato I didn't like! But I think my favorite is any one fresh picked and warm from the sun that I can eat like an apple, with a little salt.

I love the sweet little cherries too. Last year I planted one in a big pot right outside the back door so I didn't even have to walk down into the garden to snag a snack. Not that I neglected the tomatoes down in the garden, you understand!
How about a sliced tomato sandwich...the tomato warm from the sun, on fresh wholewheat bread? Just one of the joys of Summer!

I LOVE cherry tomatoes, our garden is not being planted this year, due to building, but I will grow next year hopefully, and peppers etc!

I grew up only with the big ones and I never liked them at all. I only started to like tomatoes when I discovered the little ones. I love them in a salad, cut up into quarters. I am trying to learn to like the bigger ones ...
