The most unusually named dog we ever had was named Fanny. We have had two "Princesses","a Ginger" and a "Tina" before our last dog, Fanny. We got it from another family and they already had it named.

When my father was a little boy, they had a little black dog that was named something derogatory toward African American people and starts with the letter "N". This was the late 30's so it wasn't a taboo word then and no one really thought twice about using the word or whatever.

Can you imagine walking down a dark street today and calling out your dog's name like that? LOL. I sure can't.

Our dog's name was Josie, after my stepfather's grandmother (who incidentally died recently at the ripe age of 104). Some days, my Mom got a little forgetful and used to call me Josie... smile

We have Sassy (12), Callie (8), Sadie (2), plus our (5)granddogs Hannah, Emma, Morgan, Ms Kitty, Carlie. We love all our rescue pups they are all couch potatoes and the best kind of family members to have. All our granddogs get to come over at the same time at Christmas because they know they all have a stocking hanging on the mantel full of goodies. We are looking to add a new member. Our daughter has graduated from college and on her own. She is now ready for her own pup...heres my question to all of you. She is a major southern girl living in Mississippi, so hooked on southern names. Can't say Ive ever thought about a southern name (double name) for a dog. I have come up with Betsy Mae * Bella Jane * see where I am going with this I would appreciate your imput. Thanks Cindy

Both my dogs came to me with names and I didn't see any reason to change them.

Dakota is a 12 year old Spring Spaniel/something cross.

Chester is a 5 year old Irish Setter (doing what he loves to do - run, run, run).
