Hey Everyone!
I was curious as to if this was the section where people can write about Eating Disorders, or if there is another section in the forums?
Generaly there's a section just for eating disorders. I'm assuming this is it, but I don't want to post anything in the wrong section.
Thanks <img src="/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />

Eating DIsorders are usually associated with Body Image. I have written a few articles on Eating Disorders that are located here : http://www.bellaonline.com/subjects/8802.aspI am always open to suggestions for articles and I am working on some interviews with people who have/are suffering with an eating disorder or someone who is/has worked with people who have counceled someone with disorders. Anyone can e-mail me at bodyimage @ bellaonline.com minus the spaces. Jeanette Norman

I would also be interested in topics of eating disorders. In 2003, I was diagnosed with anorexia, after having lost so much weight I went down liteally 10 sizes in pants and didn't eat for 3 months. They had to put me on Ensure for nutritional value. But, it seems that when I am faced or confronted with issues of my abuse, this arises once again. It's almost like it's an addiction of sorts and will be something I am always going to have to work hard at staying away from. Anyway, I'd be interested in hearing more on it as well. =)

I agree. Body image can be quite different, and an ED-specific forum would be great! I, too, am currently struggling to overcome anorexia and think that designating a forum for this type of conversing is a very good idea...

I know good nutrition, exercise, etc isn't the cure to everything but I used to be a compulsive eater too, when I was a teen and in my 20's. When I started taking vitamins and eating a nutritious diet and studying nutrition, I felt better and had no more desire to overeat.
I think somethings the body is craving something and you can't seem to fill the hole because you aren't putting the correct things into your body.
Exercise also helps with mood problems like depression.
Loneliness can be helped by getting out and meeting people. Do you have a favorite cause or something you're interested in? There is sure to be a group dedicated to that. Sometimes helping others is the best way to help yourself.

Why does my mind think about wanting to eat when I have so many other things to think about? And then while eating I am always thinking about things other than about what I am eating. I began insulin last night and now I have to be mindful of when and what I eat. I have to eat regular meals at regularly schedualed times...this will be a challange!

Hi You might be a good candidate for trying to journal. Writing down the times of when you get cravings and what you are doing at the time might shed some light on the problem. I t might turn out that your blood sugar is dropping at those times and once you get some nourishment it begins to rise and so you are not interested in food. It can be difficult to schedule eating initially, but with time, it becomes a normal part of your day. You will probably stop thinking so much about food since you hopefully will have stabilized your blood sugar. Hope this helps. If not, drop me a line.

Over the last several months I have come to grips with my eating disorder and am happy to say that I am learning to love myself...something that is truly unheard of in my family! My motivation is my daughter, I do not want her to go thru- her life not loving who she is and where she came from! I must become the woman I want my daughter to be, it has been a long battle but one that is well worth the effort~
