For we are His masterpiece, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared before hand in order that we would walk in them. Eph. 2:10

We were created to be Christ-like and to be Him on Earth. We are supposed to continue His works, spreading the message of love and peace and to live by Faith that we are saved by His grace. Paul is saying basically that even our belief in God does not start within ourselves. It is a gift from God so we as Christians cannot take pride in our positions as Christians. When I say Pride, I mean the boastful pride. The deadly sin of Pride.

Everything we are, everything we have, is a gift, a precious gift, from God.

That is what that passage means to me.

To me, this verse means that we were created when we believed (we are in Christ)We became His masterpiece. We were created to do good works that God has planned for us in advance.

I think sometimes we run out to do good works that weren't meant for us to do. such as not everyone is meant to devote their lives to missions in third world countries and not everyone is meant to teach or preach.
