Got to talking to Bellea about our fish's different personalities...thought it would be a good topic for a new thread....since a true betta geek loves to talk about thier bettas...here's your chance ! <img src="/images/graemlins/laugh.gif" alt="" />

I have 8 bettas now.. <img src="/images/graemlins/blush.gif" alt="" /> ..Think I'll take em one at a time here. <img src="/images/graemlins/laugh.gif" alt="" />

I have a very pretty blue female which I refer to as "Little Blue". She is rather aloof. Not super friendly but she isn't flighty either. She is so particular about what she eats too. Won't go near the BioGold pellets I put in there (silly girl, maybe she knows they're good for her..typical kid :rolleyes: ) though I keep trying. She will eat the fruitflies, the regular betta pellets and freezedried blood worms I put in there for her. I bought some dried shrimp treats for them too...she disdains them. She's such a princess !

She was the second fish I bought...the first was Mr Blue.

I'll start by discusing my two white girls. Princess Leia is very healthy and pretty - she has a slight marble, so I will breed her to Gandalf, who is also white and marbled. The other day she released and promptly ate several batches of eggs - I didn't know she was ready! But I'm glad she got a good snack. She is very friendly with me and even affectionate. my favorite betta girl. She will attack other females, as I noticed in the fish shop, so I've always kept her alone in a betta hex. Not the biggest tank, but she's very happy there. I try not to re-arrange my bettas too much, since it makes them get ich....

The Lady Galadriel has a pefectly white body with red-tipped fins. Sort of butterfly-traited. She is longer and more slender than the Princess, just like an Elf should be. I placed her in a frog habitat made by national geographic. It's wonderful, has deep levels and shallow levels, with a cave, rocks, outcrops and bullrushes, all simulated. She loves her cave and snaking around in the rushes. She's a little shy. She will either be an alternate spawn for gandalf, or an alternate for my honey betta. It's nice to have two females for each male when you spawn, so it spreads out the courtship abuse.

Jilly...where did you get that frog habitat ? It sounds very interetsting ! Got any pictures of it ?

:kiss: My fish Bubbles has a very bubbly personality. He seems to be a very cheerful and happy fish. He is very loveable. He swims around very fast when he is excited to see me. He likes me to make kissie faces at him, and he actaully does it back when I do it. :kiss:

the frog habitat I got for $1.80 at Goodwill, but it's a very nice home for Galadriel. My husband was great when he came home and saw it...he did a double take, then recovered and calmy said, "so we're breeding frogs now?" <img src="/images/graemlins/tongue.gif" alt="" />
He's so tolerant of these tanks everywhere.

Anyway, I would go to Nat Geo's website and see if they have these in their storefront. It's called Planet Frog. :music:

Ok, at the moment I only have my 2 bettas, Pinky who is male and Sweetie who is female.

Sweetie is emotional, and sweet. :love: She changes colors based on her moods. Right now she's pale brown with 2 horizontal black stripes. Her fins are tinged with turquoise blue and red. I'm not sure what to call her tail -- maybe double tail? they are both circular shaped, and very pretty. She waves at me in the mornings when I arrive, and turns deep red to greet me. When she's flirting with Pinky, she gets very brilliant red/blue colored with vertical white stripes.

I mentioned my female "BlueGirl" ... I also have a blue male whom I refer to as "Mr Blue". (I have no imagination when it comes to nameing these little guys/gals..I always have had trouble remembering names)

Anyway, Mr Blue is the first betta I brought home. (little did I know what I was getting myself into! :rolleyes: ) He has such a sweet personality. He is even tolerant of the other males...shows only mild interest as they eagerly flare and strutt thier stuff in his direction. He practically yawns..might throw a flare or two in thier directions just to let them know he's alive..then casually swims away to find something else to look at. He is your typical petstore betta color..dark blue with greenish/teal colored irredescent fins with plenty of red wash. But he caught my eye when we first met :love:

wow tell me about it.. betta personalities..
i have 10 li'l fighters... yes i know, a bit too much but i can't help my self...

i have three new li'l ones...
PHoenix: he's a crown tail, he's develpoed a liking to me now but still shys away...

ArChAngEL: he's almost a half moon.. he tends to try and stay away.. but i just got him 2days ago.

ELecTra: she's a li'l black female.. got her yesterday she hasn't been eating pellets so i've been giving her micro pellets..

RaVeN (short tail): i don't know if this ones a male or female.. ummm it was sold as a male but has kinda developed an ovipositor (strange) never-the-less he/she loves to jump for my finger...

then there's JaX (vail Tail): he's pink and purple. doesn't have very much personality, just loves to eat and sleep..

GambiT (split tail): he loves sayuki, loves to eat and follows my finger along the tank..

and my other four the you've seen..

UJIO (he's sick <img src="/images/graemlins/frown.gif" alt="" /> started fin rot, but he getting better), he lets me pat him... nibbles on my finger and loves attention.. seeks attention when i feed the others..

VeGEta (also sick <img src="/images/graemlins/frown.gif" alt="" /> ) he's been sick and he isn't as lively as usual..

PAN: she's very little and gets very aggressive.. she loves to jump out of her container.lucky for her she's in sick bay and theres water to jump in to. she got in injured and its taking awhile for her right pectoral fin to heal.. but she's getting there..

and

SayUKI: who is larger than the other girls so i'm thinking she's a male.. i'm not sure, i've had her for a while and she hasnt developed an ovipositor at all.. and its pelvic fin ventrals are longer than the other girls...
and she alwayz attacks my thumb when i got to close up the tank..

my fish are great.. hehehe its my hobby and i'e actually stuck to it for awhile.. i usually jump from hobby to hobby but i think this one will stick..

oh by the way.. in case you were wondering.. they're all named after cartoon characters except ujio... ujio is named after a character from "the last samuri"... if you've seen it, he was lord katsmoto's right hand man (kinda).. i just found he's character really cool and mean..
