Since this forum has been largely dormant for such a long time, and with the re-awakening, there have been quite a few anti-choice folks coming out and posting, I've been considering whether or not I should start locking down some of the threads.

This is your forum, and before I do that, I would like to know whether or not you all would like it done. Also, I would like to know which forum topics you feel really need to be shut down.

So, take a moment, look at the topics, and let me know if you think any of them really need to be shut down.

I don't know if any should be really shut down, but I'm not a huge regular here either. I don't mind debate, I just hate it when it devolves to "Well you're wrong because I BELIEVE you are!" :P

Thanks for asking us.
I haven't really stopped here before because the anti-choice people really rile me up!
Just seeing that phrase Abortion is Murder is a sign of disrespect!

True, I relate that to someone being pro-choice, hopping into the pro-life forum and declaring "Being Pro-life=Slavery!" They can post abortion is murder in their section if they really feel that way, and we can post the slavery thing in here, but both are "loaded" phrases that are practically set up to antagonize rather than incite rational discussion.

Oh, and I wanted to say thank you for being the moderator. This is actually a huge issue for me and it is my number one reason for who I vote for.

You are right - they are here just to cause a fight.
And your analogy is a good one -
forcing a woman into a position that may be harmful to her or something she really doesn't want is a form of slavery.
Calling themselves pro-life is so demeaning - it is saying that if you are for choice you are against life?
Low class idiots.

Thank you for the compliment, BillieCat!

As for the terminology, it's just like anything else in politics. How you spin the facts often ends up being more important than the facts themselves - unfortunately. Thankfully, another less commonly stated rule applies as well - the truth will out. More often than not lately, I find myself feeling sorry for people who blindly follow, whether it's political leaders, religious movements, or anything else. They sometimes make me very angry, but before I fly into tirades or name-calling, I remember that I go through life with my eyes open, no blinders. They don't, and that's just sad.

Yes, they are the sad ones who see black or white, who have trouble understanding all aspects of a situation.

By the way, I see you are in PA - happy voting! I couldn't wait for this day. I am in Bucks County by the way.
