I had an experience with my husband. We were on a trip to Portland, Oregon (I was attending a conference) and we were riding the public transportation system to see the city. The train was very full and I got a little separated from my DH. The doors open for people to get on and a woman was entering with her baby in a stroller. People had to squeeze and shimmy to try and fit her onto the train with this big stroller. There was a random man standing there who started berating my DH out loud, in front of everyone because this strange, insane man, did not feel that my husband gave enough way/room for this woman to get on the train. It took me a while to even realize that this crazy man was talking about MY husband! My DH is the sweetest, most sensitive man.

The fact is, the crazy man didn't move his big butt one inch from where he was standing but took it upon himself to yell at MY DH and say things like "what kind of man doesn't move for a lady with a baby?!! I was livid. And mind you, this dude didn't move an inch but he was yelling at others! I think the poor mother with the stroller was actually mortified at what was happening in front of her. This man was obviously not quite right in the head and frankly, the train was so full, there really was not room for another woman AND a stroller. She is lucky she got on at all. This happened back in early 2004 and I am still upset about it. It really made me have a bad taste in my mouth for Portland. Not very welcoming.

Granted, this wasn't coming from a parent directly but it involved kids/parents.
