How about a really LOUD "Holy [censored] did you see what that kid just did?! He/She just tossed all those clothes on the ground! I feel so bad for the people who work here, they'll have to pick all that up!"

I don't know, maybe it was because I was never liked in highschool except by a select few, but what people think of me couldn't affect me less. YOU are the one being irresponsible, NOT ME. Give me all the dirty looks you like, but you know deep down that you're the one slacking off and looking bad in front of everyone.

Yeah! It is a case by case basis for me. My DH and I were seated in restaurant eating a this kid in the booth behind my DH kept turning around and leaning in getting close to my DH. I said..loudly.."Excuse me, but can your turn around!?" The mom heard and turned around and looked at me and I just smiled..BUT HER CHILD LEFT US ALONE.

If some kid stuck their head under my dressing room door I would come flying out of it and find the parents and tell them whatever....This [censored] is not excuseable!

I am a nice person,I promise, but I live in the most kidcentric town and I get stuck standing up for myself all the time. My DH and I are stuck here until he is promoted out of here!! But the sad thing is..it seems to be everywhere.

I am rude enough to say something, I have done it often enough that my 11 year old looks at kids like this in a very disgusted way and says something LOUDLY to me about how she can't believe how some parents allow their children to act in public. I usually respond with how she never behaved that way as a child. Hearing it come from a child, usually embarrasses the parents.

One day, when I was visiting my aunt, she was putting some fragile items (she normally kept on coffee tables and low shelves) away. I asked her why and she told me someone with a bratty kid was coming over. "I resnt it," she told me. "My three kids know not to touch anything that doesn't belong to them, but I have to pick things up because so-and-so is coming over." It's true. Her kids were always very well-mannered. As a result, her middle child (the only one with kids so far) is also raising 2 very well-behaved kids.

It was probably easier (and cheaper) for her to put the stuff away, than to say something, though my aunt isn't afraid to tell it like it is.

I think I've told this story before, but it's one of my favorites.

My mom had an elderly aunt who had no children but lots of knick-knacks - nothing really worth much, but delicate. When my mom was a kid, she mom was allowed to look, but not touch. Whenever my mom went over to the aunt's house, she would put her hands behind her back and repeat, "Gail mustn't touch. Gail mustn't touch."

Cracks me up every time!
