BellaOnline Forums Family Step Parenting My teen stepdaughter is driving me bananas!

I feel very badly for you in going through this. I had a step daughter like this who made my life hell for about 10 years, until she finally went off to college and stopped spreading all her negative energy through our lives.

It was a miracle tho-as an adult and a business woman went through a leadership class that forced her to look at herself, the kind of person she was and the kind of person she wanted to be. It totally changed her for the better. She even apologized to me in later years and told me she was glad I stayed with her dad.

They are hard years to live through and you can only hope things improve with time. I certainly would never go through it again!

Thank you to those of you that have offered suggestions. I talked with my husband last weekend, and we have agreed to work together to get our family in a healthier behavior pattern. I am currently researching counselors and hope to find one that specializes in situations like ours soon. In the meantime, we are planning to be consistent and offer praise when she exhibits positive behaviors. Thank you again!

She needs therapy I agree, possible meds, and wouldn't it be nice to put her over your knee and give this child a spanking, back in our day that seemed to work, but can be thrown in jail for it now.

I find her flirting with her Dad not normal the hair thing took the cake for me. Has the school ever tested her for any LD's?

She seems very attention starved and this could spell for alot of trouble going into her teenage years. As the old saying goes the apple doesn't fall far from the tree, there is something not right with this child and my heart goes out to you especially!
