You know, the other night I actually encountered that for the first time in person. (shocking I know, I have smart friends so I usually don't see that kind of stupidity).
A co-worker of my guy's was talking to me, and he let out that his girlfriend wanted to get married (I said how I had no interest in marriage, I KNOW I've got my guy, no need to "shackle" him for peace of mind) and that she wanted kids (to which I replied that kids are screaming parasites, or something along those lines). He says "Oh I HAVE to have them since she wants them!" (to which I reply that BOTH parents have to really really want those freaking things, otherwise it's NOT right). Apparently he thinks since she's the one who will carry them, she's the one who gets to decide whether or not to have them. I think the look I gave him said "You're a dumbass" clearer than words.
What irks me, and I'll talk to him about this later, is that he said that his goal is to become a grandfather. o_O First off, you're assuming you'll HAVE kids, which isn't guaranteed. Secondly, that your KID will want to have kids, which is even more not-guaranteed. Third, that a goal in life should never rely on someone else, only yourself. If he had said that IF he becomes a grandfather he wants to be the best one possible, well and good.
