I don't think it's a coicidence that the word mother sounds like martyr. It's almost as if they put themselves in that situation so that society can see what a "big sacrifice" they are making to raise their children. After all, it is the most important job in the world! crazy

Skeeter, you are a riot! Yeah, I don't think you need to be a diva either, but some basic hygiene and weight control can go a long way! I do my hair and makeup for work, but often don't wear makeup at all on the weekends. If I was a Mom, I would probably be even more like that. I also notice that looks aren't as important to me as a I get older. I'm a good weight, and not a slob, don't get me wrong, but I just care less about that stuff.

I think it's a priority thing. You can't make everything a priority, and looks probably aren't paramount when you are taking care of children. But again, basic hygiene and health are always a good baseline.

My one sister is overweight, and my nephew was really mean to her for a while. And it came out that he was being mean to his aunt b/c she was overweight. Kids notice this kind of stuff. And I think especially if someone is significantly overweight, it can have an impact on a child. And the same goes for a Mom that has an eating disorder. Either extreme is bad for the child.

Yes, most of the time, on the weekends when we're not going anywhere, I go without makeup also. It's very nice to give my skin a breather from the normal weekday stuff that I wear for work, etc.

I thoroughly agree on basic hygiene and health being necessary even when you're a parent. It should be about setting a good example, at the very least. Also, I think that parents should want to stay in good health, so that they could play with their kids and be around for them far into their adult years, but I guess that's just my 2 cents.
