My siblings (seven total) all have different first letter, no common names and no theme and no rhyme or reason to our names. We are all as unique as our names. Maybe by giving us our unique names, our parents also helped to give us our individual personalities.

my sister just broke her pattern. She just had her newest child today at 5pm. Instead of a name beginning A'Abc she named this son Jesiah

I like the idea to have your childrens names match some how. I also think you should keep the "theme" you start with. I think it's interesting to pick a theme for your children or have two themes: one for the girls and one for the boys. I think if you do a theme name it should be middle names that way it's a little harder to pick up on...so your kids won't be easily embarressed as they get older.

I really wanted to name my last son Seth Gabriel because my oldest son is William Michael - and I thought it would be neat to have 2 archangels. My husband absolutely refused, so he's Seth Daniel instead. oh well...
BTW - he's Seth because my huband's middle name is Adam, and Seth was Adam & Eve's 3rd son, and it was kind of our way of saying that my two kids from my previous marriage were also my husband's as well - making Seth our 3rd and not our 1st. (wow thst was really long winded!)

Until I read your article, I didn't think about the fact that my sister and I have similar names. I don't think it was done intentionally but perhaps subconsiously - Melissa and Jessika. Both with the double s's and the "ah" at the end. It was funny because I remember when we were kids and my mother would call for us, we never knew who she wanted because usually we only heard "aaaahhhhhh!" at the end.
