I've noticed in my area that Pagans are getting more positive attention in newspapers and other media. Have you noticed a positive change in your area? Sometimes, especially at Samhain, the news wants to interview "stereotypical" witches. Depending on how they present themselves, it can be beneficial to the community.

What do you think? Are the media in your area more open-minded now or less so? Or are they completely oblivious to the Pagan community in your area?

What about national attention such as talk shows? Have you seen any coverage that makes you proud or cringe?

are area there is no mention of pagan anything unless it is at church and they are calling the church people down the road evil pagans.... I think if this area ran into a real live pagan they would panic and start a witch hunt and try to burn them at the stake..... sad but true!

It is sad, but I understand that many Pagans have to stay "in the broom closet" because of this kind of attitude. There are places in my state that I would feel the same. Things are changing very slowly, but I can see a positive change here.

I think it is great that there are positive changes being made. weither I agree disagree or somewhere inbetween with pagans or anyother religion I think it is better to have everything out in the open and everyone understand where the other people are comming from. If I know nothing about a religion except what I have been told then I will fear what I dont know and understand but if I have an understanding of the basic and fundmental beliefs then I can relate and be understanding of the people.

Free - i know how you are feeling. It is the same in my area - religion is very strong and anything else is being conceived as negative. But i m also optimistic for the future.

What about television shows? The one I can think of off the top of my head is Charmed. People seem to either love it or hate it. I don't think it portrays witches badly. Some think it belittles witchcraft. I just think it's a fun fiction show.

I thought the Dresden Files was fun. I think that these things fascinate people - and when they are presented as just a "fun story" it's much easier for them to enjoy them.

I know some very conservative christians who loved Charmed.

Mists of Avalon was another hit, because it is after all, just a story
