Ditto Trixie, I learned that one as a teen and will JUMP on anyone who leaves them open. I'm one of those high altitude people so it's a major risk for me, unlike those low-altitude people who can't reach the cupboards easily. >;)

I may not be able to reach the upper shelves, but there's not much in this world I have to "duck" for. Many cabinet doors, tree branches, low doorways or light fixtures, etc. are complete non-issues for me.

I leave the doors open while I'm working in the kitchen, but usually close them before I leave the room. My fiance is a bit less successful with that, but he's more likely to get hit in the head than I am (he's a few inches taller), so he can take the risk if he wants.

I don't have to duck either, Myra, unless I have my platforms on. I tend to I run back and forth from the stove to the drawers (where I keep the cooking utensils) on the other side of the kitchen. Oftentimes I leave them open a little, but I close them when I get the pot a simmering and have a few minutes.

jhmd, you've echoed my thoughts exactly. You and your DH sound like you have the exact same division of duties that my DH & I do, and part of the reason I don't want kids is that I KNOW that I would resent him if I ended up doing most of the baby stuff on top of having a full-time job also. I get sort of resentful when I feel like he's not pulling his weight around the house as it is, with our 6 kitties, etc., which doesn't always happen, but sometimes. I just know that's how it would work out if there were a human child thrown into the mix, and I don't want that situation at all. smile

HA! DH said this weekend that he should start chronicling all the work he does around the house to prove to me that he does a lot. I said, "that would be great." Then he said, "well I'm not going to because we should trust each other."

It's not that I don't trust him, it's that he just doesn't do what he should.

Poor deluded man. But whatever. He worked on my website this weekend so I'm happy!

WTH does pulling his weight around the house have to do with trust?

It's about not being the lazy jerk who stares at the TV or computer while your partner is vacuuming under your feet.

How is that trust-related?

Lynette, smack that man on the back of the head for me, will ya?

What men say ...

"because we should trust each other"

... and what they really mean ...

"Uh, if I start doing that, she might be proved right. Better not go there..."

"sigh" Such simple creatures.
