Okay, so more badness from me. (I guess I must be addicted to this forum because it's been very easy to start reading posts again.) I'm surprised I haven't gotten hate mail or something. But here goes.
I was watching a program about homeless people. There was a homeless family with four kids. That's really sad, right? I totally agree, and I'm not being sarcastic. They can't get back on their feet because only the dad is working because Mom had a horrible accident in 2003. She was left with excruciating back pain and can barely move. They struggled for several years to get by before they became homeless (don't know when exactly that happened.) Wow, what horrible, horrible luck. That can happen to anyone, and I feel really bad for them.
She has a three-year-old and an eight-month-old.
You do the math.
Done?
So, she can barely move, can't work to support her family even though they're struggling, and yet was able to pop out two more kids after this debilitating accident that left her in excruciating pain every time she moves. Does that seem SMART to you? Are you starting to think that there might be a reason why she's homeless? And do you think possibly it might be hindering their ability to get back on their feet?
I know I shouldn't judge someone I don't know, but for heaven's sake. You hear stories like this all the time. I don't mean about the homeless thing, but about the people who CANNOT afford kids just having kid after kid after kid. They say "I want a better life for my kids." News flash: STOP HAVING KIDS!!! Then you can support the kids your already have, and they'll have a better chance for the future.
Everyone thinks they're a good parent (god forbid you ever suggest otherwise) but you are NOT being a good parent if you are giving birth to children when you can't even feed the ones you already have. That is just irresponsible.
Which leads me back to my "some people should just be sterilized" theory.

Guess the pain can't be that debilitating if she can still manage to have sex, but perhaps that's just what she tells the welfare people. So if he is busting his hump at work all day, how does someone in "excruciating pain" manage to look after an under five and a baby?? Able bodied people find that tough going.
Yep. The stupid, it burns. And it pisses me off that you and I pay for these dropkicks...

Well, she actually has four kids, so she's looking after four kids while he busts his hump all day.

Hmm, and it takes two to tango. Apparently the hubby wasn't too concerned about his wife's back ailments when he helped her to conceive. Seems like he also was not too worried about the cost of raising and feeding these kids when he was doing the horizontal mambo without protection. You'd think one or the other of them would take a second and think about the possible consequences. It always astounds me how the people on this forum can do everything possible to ensure that they don't accidentally get pregnant but others seem to find it so hard to not get pregnant. Interesting, isn't it?

PLANNED PARENTHOOD! My God! If you're homeless, birth control, exams and couseling is FREE!!! We're talking a sliding scale, here, people. What part of that doesn't sound good? It has to be better than raising your babies on the street.
Ugh! I get so exasperated at stuff like this. How will you ever get off the street if you keep having more kids? It's not cheap to raise them even on the streets. Grrr....

Grr..this really annoys me too. It is the perfect example of how so many people, especially in the US lately it seems, have no sense of personal responsibility and don't even realize that their own actions have consequences. They can't think past the next 5 minutes and don't seem to realize how irresponsible it is to bring 4 kids into the world when you can't even support yourself!
And, how she conceived 2 of the kids while supposedly unable to move/work, ah...don't even get me started!
the only thing i want to parent is my great dane!

The sadder part is that those kids are going to grow up to be a drain on society in either the form of welfare junkies or criminals, or both. That's where our tax dollars go!

Man, that sickens me. It's so incredibly irresponsible, it's immoral.
But oh no, I'm the immoral one for not thinking everyone should just breed left and right all over the place...

That's where our tax dollars go! true. although the social worker in me can't help but feel sorry for the kids who did not ask to be born into a situation where they are going to start out a million steps behind and have a lifetime of struggle, and possible trauma handed to them at birth. so sad, really.
