He's certainly stepped over the line. As far as I know the older you are the more at risk you are of these kinds of problems so it's the OLDER women he should be encouraging. The fact also that he is getting an errection rings even more alarm bells.
Needs to be reported, seriously.
Haven't had these tests, probably should I'm funny about hospitals and doctors (probably cos my grandad died in one, I was 7 and just outside the hospital when it happened) and if I did I think I would get a female doctor!

I leave the child-rearing to people who feel called to it. I've never felt that call.

Wow, this is horrible! Yes, I absolutely think this man has sexualized the medical practice (he sounds like a sexual predator) and under no circumstances should he be insisting these women get exams right then and there. I'd say if someone feels uncomfortable then they should listen to their instincts and run; and find another doctor they can really trust.

It infuriates me to see doctors abusing their power; oftentimes when the doctor is 'abusive' it's when he/she won't listen to us or acknowledge our concerns or what we know about our bodies...but this abuse is really borderline rape and I can only imagine how violated the women feel...my heart goes out to them and I hope this 'doctor' gets help!!

Deborah49...the doctor in this post..is he still practicing? That is the creepy part. My doctors are all women. It is nice that I live in a big city where many choices are available.

That is extremely rude and unprofessional on behalf of the doctor. Recommending a Pap is one thing and is perfectly acceptable given the concern, but what were his real intentions?

Disturbing...

Sick, gross, disturbing -- but not surprising.

I've had two pervy doctors in my lifetime. frown Nothing as gross as outlined here, but still very very disturbing. I REFUSE to see a male doctor for pap tests. I'm sorry if that offends some honest male doctors.

I've had several uncomfortable experiences with male doctors too. Nothing like this guy, but still, comments were made that I didn't appreciate, and I've never had that happen with a female doctor. I've only had pelvic exams from male dr.'s a few times, like for an emergency situation or when my regular female doctor couldn't see me. So, it does stand out that of the small percentage of times I've had those exams from males, more than one instance was memorably embarrassing or humiliating. (Of course, pelvic exams are already hateful enough to me, so the last thing I want to hear is an inconsiderate remark on top it, and it is all the worse in that environment.) I choose female dr.'s from now on for that sort of thing, and I would assume any decent male dr. would understand that.

Your instincts were right. This guy sounds like a real pervert. I admire you for checking others' opinions to make sure he was out of line (this is his career we're talking about) but he is WAY. Out. Of. Line. Report him please.

I always see a female doctor. I'd just never feel comfortable with a male doctor.

i saw a male obgyn when i was a teenager b/c he was my mom's doc forever and a really sweet innocuous older guy. as soon as i left home though, i only saw women. i didn't have a bad experience with him, but i felt no need to see a man with so many female docs out there. my one negative experience with a pelvic exam (other than the usual unpleasantness!) was with a woman. she kept making all these odd, inappropriate jokes. i think she was trying to use humor to diffuse the nervousness of what is an awkward interaction, but it made it much worse. i've switched doctors almost every year b/c i've found it hard to find people who have really good bedside manner. the good ones i've found end up leaving my insurance network and the [censored] ones stay!

another point: if i were a good, honest male doctor, i would be infuriated by these horrible predators who have abused their power and represented the profession so poorly.

I'm on my way to a meeting - I'll respond in more detail later today.
If anyone is interested google "David Wee Kin Tong" the most recent case to hit the papers in Melbourne. Dr Tong was a dermatologist so just goes to show women need to stay alert and stop an examination as soon as they start to feel uncomfortable...

PREVERT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! yeah that is not normal or ok or anything! he should be reported to the police as well as the medical board. they can remove his Doctor's lisince, take away his medical practice in that town hospital and or state and that is not even getting the law involved!

I had a dr. like this when I was younger I was about 14 and the dr. didnt want my mom to go back with me. I came in with a hurt ankel and the dr wanted me to take off cloths so he could look at my ankel ad do an exam. the nurse who was in the room gave me a look like WTF? but didnt say anything. I told the dr that I could take off my sandles and roll up my sweatpant and he could look at my ankel then the dr told me that he KNEW best and to take my cloths off by now I was [censored]!!! and I am VERY VOCAL when i am [censored] off. I yelled so loud that the dr on the other end of the building heard me say very clearly that I was NOT GOING TO TAKE OFF MY F!!!ING CLOTHS!!! my mom came in and the doctor said to her that he could not help be if I would not let him look at my ankel and I told my mom that he could see both my ankels just fine and I wasnt takeing off my shirt and pants!! and THEY CANT MAKE ME and I was ready to fight every one there!

he is not a dr anymore. I think the nurse reported him or the Dr. on the other end of the building either way....

I dont like dr. and I really dont like dr that try to bully you into doing something that you have already said no to!
