lngilbert--you crack me up! laugh I'm reading this while eating lunch and I almost choked myself laughing out loud! You're too right; lots of babies are fugly but parents just don't see the reality...

In addition, I think it's so curious when two really good looking people end up with a really ugly baby/kid. How does that happen?! And do you think they realize it and just pretend they don't notice?

Anyway, loved your post--such a funny yet serious tone to it. It should be a PSA for parents! Thanks for the laugh smile

the only thing i want to parent is my great dane!

Devon Rexes are beautiful and gorgeous.

You bite your tongue? I flipping don't... I have photos of my persian cat on my desk and on my phone and if anyone insults the cat... their darling brats are insulted in my next breath.

One woman said ' Oh.. is that your cat?' I was like 'Yeah.... ' she said ' He looks like he has a flat face...' I replied ' He does, he's a persian'..

'Oh.. so you wanted a weird looking cat?'

I said ' Yes... I chose him, at least that's one of the benefits over having cats, you can choose to have ugly animals... I guess with your daughter you just took pot luck and lost?'

Ha..

Ha..

Ha..

She looked like she was about to cry.... guilty? no.

Yeah this happened to a colleague of mine before IMHO. She was very pretty and I thought he was at least average and yet the baby looked a bit weird what happened there?!

Never seen a mexican baby. I think Asian babies are lovely BUT never seen a newborn one of them so I can't say. I wonder if white babies are the ugliest - not neccesarily white kids/teens/adults I'm ONLY talking about the babies - too.
To be honest although our nephew and neice on hubby's side are both good looking (at 18 months) the boy is much cuter so I feel a bit sorry for the girl!

Personally, I've always thought that people of mixed races are the prettiest.

Mixed babies look exotic, and therefore interesting, I think. It's kind of like seeing a crossbreed dog and trying to figure out what the mix is.

Funnily enough, I have an Chinese friend who was telling me she'd love a white baby - because she thinks white babies are much cuter than Asian babies. She thinks Chinese babies look all squashed... yet I think Chinese babies are sweet. So guess it's all in the eye of the beholder.

There is the odd baby that's just uber-cute. I worked with a girl who gave birth to a rugby player - he was a little tank! But he had huge blue eyes and a smile that could light up an entire room at a year old - and boy, did he know how to use it! So yeah, the odd baby I get - but not enough to want to take one home.

Linux Lady is my hero - again. Silly woman, Persians are just awesome. They always look so staunch and like "don't mess wit me!!"

I don't really notice kids (unless they're screaming) until they're about 3 years old - kids can be very cute at that age and quite interesting, their personalities are really taking shape...
Babies though...often noisy and VERY hard work!
AND, IMO boring after 5 minutes...
I had no interest in dolls as a child - apparently I asked my mother, "what am I supposed to do with it?" It was soon flung in the corner...except the doll that closed it's eyes in a sleeping position - it took a few minutes to get the head off and see how it worked...
I know my brother is hurt that I have little interest in his daughter - I try to make an effort but have zero interest in cooing over her or nursing her for hours. My mother pointed out to him that I have NEVER been interested in babies and small children - it's not a new thing...
When she's 3 or so, I might start to enjoy her company more...in short doses...
I have really enjoyed watching my nephew grow up - and thoroughly enjoyed his company during his teenage years.
I enjoyed his company when he was younger but struggled if it was over an extended period - I needed to get back to my world...it started to feel like I was treading water, waiting for the life boat...
I recall looking after my nephew for a weekend when he was 2 or so...it was so exhausting - like an endurance event - after he was collected...I sat in the bath for 45 minutes and soaked up the silence...
I have never liked caring for young kids - I don't have the patience or interest.
Sorry...went off on a tangent...do I think babies are cute?
I've noticed some are more normal looking than others...and some nicer looking. That's about it...
A friend's baby was premature - he was bright red, bald and wrinkly - she said to me, "Don't you think he looks like B?" (her husband)
I just smiled...he looked like an ancient man that had shrunk after being out in the sun for too long!

I think they get interesting when they turn four or five. They start having opinions and show an interest in things and you can actually have a conversation with them. With an infant, all they do is poop, eat and sleep! How boring... I also want to point out that bigger kids are fun to be with in small doses PROVIDED they know how to behave themselves... that's my standpoint. And with behaved I mean well-mannered and be able to show some respect. And listen to what you say. Seems like they are harder and harder to find like that these days.

I agree Fatina - I tend to think all teenagers are like my nephew - big mistake!
AND, Linux Lady...love your gorgeous Persian.
I'll have to learn how to load up some of my photos...I have some great shots of my cats...they are sooo photogenic.
