I used to use only the non-disposable razors but somehow we got into the habit of buying the disposables. I think I thought they were sharper somehow, and better to use. But really you just buy new heads for the razor rather than buying an entirely new razor. And since we don't recycle the disposable razors, that's a ton of money and plastic we're wasting!!

Which do you use? I'm going to go back to my Venus non-disposable once I work my way through the existing pile of disposable ones.

I use the generic brand for disposables. My son turns 13 next Saturday so that will be something to consider as he gets older and the need for shaving becomes a reality.

Bonnie - so is there a reason you use disposables rather than reusable ones where you just swap out the head?

I have used non-disposables for years. I can't claim environmental concerns, though--I thought they shaved better. I just product-tested the Venus Embrace and I love it. I think my legs feel better than either the Quattro or the other Venus I have already. (I have no idea why I had both--I think I needed one on vacation or something.)

We had a friend of ours who worked at Gillette when they first started coming out with the multi-blade razors and it was a big marketing gimmick. So we got one and it really was much better.

I have a Venus and it seemed OK - but somehow we were going on a trip or something and got a bunch of disposable ones for the trip and I just kept using them. I didn't really think about it other than a vague thought that they would be sharper and easier to use somehow. Which I admit makes no sense smile So I'm going back to the Venus shortly as soon as I finish off these other ones.

Aha! Yours is a five blade! (I just looked it up). Mine is only a three blade. Maybe I should try it - it's really that much better?

I think it is that much better. I was surprised. It takes less time to shave and I think it's a much better shave--you can even use it without soap or anything and not get razor burn. (I did try that.)

I have used it exclusively since I got it, but maybe I'll change blades in both & do one leg with the Embrace & one with the other Venus & see for sure. (Hadn't thought of that, but I will & will let you know.)

I use a Venus non-disposable 3-blade. I've had it for awhile and it seems to work fine. I use my blades for a long time -- I don't shave everyday.

I may try the 5-blade next...I think the companies stop selling replacement blades on old models to force us to buy the new version! So then you have to get the razor AND blades.

Also, I like the idea of multi-purposing my products so I use either my shampoo, conditioner, shower gel or even bar soap to shave. I haven't decided which works best. They are all gentle on the skin (no toxic chemicals).

What products do you use to shave with?

I have a Venus Breeze (the only with the shave gel on it) and that works well for me. Maybe I'll give the embrace a try. Do you need shave gel with it?
