Grrr. Such a pet peeve when I hear "We are pregnant"! I said "she is pregnant?" I almost said "Are men able to get pregnant too?" But I bit my tongue. A friend said I should of said "Well, gee my condolences!" Great comeback. I swear if I hear the "we are..." I will make that comment! Of course, hear this at work about a former coworker.

I understand "We are having a baby." That's accurate.
I do not understand "We are pregnant." That's biologically impossible.
I'm all for the man being as involved as he can be in such a huge event, but saying something so ridiculous grates on my nerves. As it is impossible for that statement to be true, technically, everyone who says it is lying. There's a little ammo for ya.

I find that phrase so ridiculous and irritating. Obviously, the idea is for the Dad to be able to show he's involved, committed, touchy-feely, new-age sensitive guy but it just comes off sounding so absurd. I feel like some men say it to seem like the above or their crazy partners have forced them to say it. Either they are lame or just hen-pecked or both. I am almost more irked by the women that a. want their partners to say this or b. force them to.
Maybe on a more sinister note it is so men can get some credit without doing the work smile smile I think more likely, they are just dweebs.

I never understood that "we're pregnant". I'm glad that I'm not the only one who finds that phrase to be less than ingenuous. smile

i don't find fault with it. It takes two to get pregnant, and it takes more than one person to survive a pregnancy. After 30 N&N and 26 GN&N I think the phrase hits

Ugh. I can't stand that phrase. I'm with myra, it's a biological impossibility. Yes, "we" are expecting, yes "we" are having a baby, even yes, "we" are trying (ugh again). But technically, SHE is pregnant.

When a guy says this, pat him on the tummy and ask if he's felt it moving yet.
