Interestingly, often when a person has violence issues as an adult, the first thing that they are asked is, "have you ever tortured small animals?"

Guess she'll have to say yes. You might want to bring that up to her stupid parents.

My friend's kid is just over TWO and he knows better than to hassle animals. Of course, him mom let him learn the hard way by letting him mess with her mother's cat who doesn't take [censored], and has claws. She warned him to be nice to the cat, and when he ignored her, the cat took care of the problem. Ever since then, he's VERY careful around cats. Not afraid, but careful.

Oh Rebekah, I'm so sorry about your hamster. It would be so hard to have to see the little guy in pain. frown

I want to smack that child.

Why are children so raised on a pedestal that they can't be disciplined anymore?

And why oh why is it considered "not a big deal" to hurt animals? Doesn't anyone realize how wrong it is for us, as the most powerful creatures on this planet, to just be given free reign to hurt all other living creatures? Not that I don't value human life and see human suffering as something bad, but why do people think that there is something morally wrong in thinking that animals deserve respect just like people do?????

I agree, it is definitely a big deal to hurt animals. How is this child ever going to learn to respect animals, nature, and even humans, if their own parents just basically laugh this off...

Rebekah, I'm so sorry about your hamster! frown (((hugs))) to you.

the only thing i want to parent is my great dane!
