btw.. i am the youngest of 8. I have 30 nieces and nephews and 28 great n&n.
I also have 10 from my half sibs (birthmothers children)

I was just shocked at the the whole "of course you can't discipline other people's kids these days" thing.
I need to correct children when they act obnoxiously. I'm their blessing in a world of failed "time out's".

I would love to be able to disciple other peoples children when they need it but with the laws the way they are these days you don't dare for fear or a lawsuit. Heck, a parent hardly dares to give their own kid a swat on the bottom in public these days because some do-gooder will call the cops and report the "child abuse".

That's how I find it somehow. There are some real little angels in my class who no matter WHAT is going on will sit quietly and listen when they are supposed to.
Then some of them are like little - well maybe not devils but little kiddie tornados who seem to leave a path of destruction behind them!
I leave the child-rearing to people who feel called to it. I've never felt that call.

That's what I've always observed Athena! It's interesting to me a teacher (who's around kids a lot more than me) agrees. I've always felt that parenting would be one thing if you got a good kid...I think I could handle it, and I'm sure I'd get a lot of pleasure and fulfullment out of the whole process. But, if I got the OTHER kind of kid, I'd want to die.

I just don't know what to do around kids. I'm so not used to children. I think I'd get along with them better if I didn't think I'd offend the parents just by opening my mouth.
