"My fiance and I are just like this! And I don't normally want to hold a baby - but show me a puppy or kitten and I go crazy wanting a cuddle! :o)"

I'm kinda like that. I see babies or kids in the park and sometimes I will look but often I just ignore them, not interested. Plus, like I've said, I work with kids all day.
But if i see a cat up ahead I will be down on my hands and knees, calling "Puss, puss," making kissing noises and trying to get its attention and hoping it comes to me and lets me stroke it!

I leave the child-rearing to people who feel called to it. I've never felt that call.

Oh, yeah. Me too. I see a baby anything (except a human) and I get all squishy inside. Must cuddle and kiss. smile

Me too....babies and children do nothing for me, but you give me a cute little cuddly animal and I go soft...I'll act like a nut playing with it or trying to get it to come to me so I can pet it smile

How can you prove whether at this moment we are sleeping, and all our thoughts are a dream; or whether we are awake, and talking to one another in the waking state?

Sometimes I deliberately ignore babies if I get a sense that the parents are expecting me to gush.

Me too! I try not to hold babies if possible because I get tired of the bingoes that ensue from it. But I love cuddling 'baby animals' and talking and cooing to them! It's pretty dorky, I know. But somehow I just don't feel that way about 'baby people' laugh

I don't usually go out of the way for kitty cats, but kitty cats usually come up to ME and start snuggling. I seem to attract kitty cats. smile

You sound like a friend of mine. My kitty is very shy around people he doesn't know, but when this friend visited, my kitty just hopped in his lap and started purring! I was completely suprised since kitty usually hides from strangers.

(I sense a kitty cat hijacking in purrrogress)

My best friend C has had two kitty cats. When we've visited over the years, both of them have come up to me, sniffed me, then let me scratch their ears, etc. I was around kitty cats when I was growing up, but don't have any because DW has an allergic reaction to cat furr. I've not been around cats, regularly, in many years, but those cats that she has, well, they've always had a good sense of goodness. If a person is good, they will rub against their legs, jump up on the chairs, get snuggly, etc. If the person is bad, they stay away, like they KNOW that this person is bad news.

I guess since I've passed the kitty cat test, I must be good (blush) smile

I swear, cats KNOW when someone is allergic. Kitties always want to sit on my husband's lap when we go anywhere. He is, of course, allergic. They'll make a beeline right for him, ignoring anyone else.

I think cats can be a little sadistic. But hey, I like that.

I always thought it was interesting how animals will judge people. A friend of mine who recently moved in with his girlfriend and her cat had me over and told me he wanted me to see the cat & to go look in the bedroom. When I came out he said:

Were you able to see him? Chainsaw won't come out from under the bed when we have new people over.

Chainsaw had jumped up on the dresser and plonked down right on my hand. He rolled over on his back and purred at me while he held one finger of my free hand with his paw. Chainsaw... was a big pushover. wink
