You sound like you know from personal experience a lot about asthma. What do you know now that you wish you had known earlier?

I started prednisone today but it is for my eczema and I notice a slight improvement in my asthma, but never got the Rx for that condition.

I have had asthma my entire life - turning 48 next month and only use Primatene Mist since the other inhaler I used changed and it was no good - albuterol and my ins does not pay for it that often.

Hi, Bonnie! What inhaler works the best for you? I know a lot of people who liked the plain generic albuterol but can't get it anymore. One way some people have gotten around it is to ask their doctor to help them get one of those tiny hand-held nebulizers (can get through most respiratory care supply companies) and then order the premix albuterol vials to use with it--those are still available in generic.

'lo, Cheryl! I've had asthma all my life (mild--rarely flares) and both of my children (3 and 8) have moderate asthma with seasonal flares (mostly well in control, thanks to their pumonologist).

It was the albuterol and now that they changed I cannot get anything out of them. The inhaler part is now red.

I will have to check out your articles. As an asthmatic myself who is chronically in the "yellow" zone, I am always on the look out for new and better thhigns to try.

Hi Jase!

Congratulations! Since you already know you are in the "yellow zone," that means you must be one of the 22% of adult asthmatics who have actually been given an asthma action plan by their physician. Unfortunately, many physicians know how to treat asthma attacks, but aren't always as good about teaching their patients how to tell ahead of time that they are getting into trouble and treat it before it gets bad. Great to meet you! I'll "see" you around the forums.
