Today I am grateful that I have a voice to speak out for those who are victims of racism and sexism. Every person deserves to be respected for who they are, even if they happen to have skin of a different color or female body parts. We all deserve to be heard and listened to.

I will do my part to say something when I hear a person making a comment about "All Hispanics think about knifing my tires in the parking lot. Every single one."

I will do my part to say something when I hear a person saying "Every black person considers throwing themself in front of my car to make money from a frivolous lawsuit. Every single one."

And yes, I know people who have said things like that.

In addition to, of course, the male teacher who says to a female student in an engineering college, "Women don't belong in my class." Luckily, that was not said to me. But it was said to a contemporary of mine, in my college.

Today I am grateful that I have a voice online to speak out against harassment. So many people are harassed every day and have no way to counter it. They are harassed merely for being African American or Hispanic or Muslim. No person should ever be harassed simply for being who they are.

I am grateful that, when my car is caked in ice, I can choose to stay home and work on writing and my websites. I am fortunate. Many others would have to invest time & energy in chipping away at their car and then the danger of driving on the treacherous roads. #mindfulness

Many of you will remember I used to count the days in a No Complain project. That made it seem like a short-term goal vs an every-day lifestyle so I switched over to expressing gratitude daily. Today I'm grateful for a quiet, safe home where I can work without interruption on tasks of my own choosing. What are you grateful for?

Today I'm grateful for the ease in which we can talk with people from all countries, backgrounds, and cultures. It is illuminating to explore a topic from so many diverse points of view. The discussion opens minds. What are you grateful for today?

Today I am Grateful for having ample food. I love tea and can choose from various flavors each day. Right now I'm drinking licorice, which Bob bought for me by the case smile. Many people struggle for basics. #namaste

Today I'm grateful that I can generally sleep as long as I need to. I woke up so refreshed and full of energy. Many don't have that luxury. I'm so grateful in general that I took the plunge all those years ago to work for myself. What are you grateful for?

The weatherman predicted 13 inches of snow in my community today, so I cancelled my commute to work. The snow hasn't materialized so far, but I'm grateful for some free time to hang out at Starbucks and work on a new BOL article.
