HA HA... I guess the secret to easy blender meals is a blender with only six parts!

I made smoothies again this morning - blueberries - kale - yogurt - milk - banana. We got three services of fruit and veggie (count them 1-2-3)all before 9am smile

That's funny... see, if we were neighbors I could keep you in smoothies, and you could keep me in turkey patties! The universe would be in harmony!

Oh now there's a great idea!! We could build a low carb community where we had lots of walking paths, a swimming pool, a Wii in our community center to play active games on. You could make us all smoothies, we could grill up the steaks and veggies, someone else could bake us low carb muffins.

That sounds stupendous smile

I want them to make a one part blender. Just stick the entire thing in the dishwasher. Then I'd make smoothies smile

When my daughter comes to stay we have porridge then a huge mixed fruit salad that she spends ages cutting up. It is a real treat and gives us so much energy for the day we often forget lunch!

Of course our big glass of cranberry juice is a must and my eight year old granddaughter insist on a glass too "because we are ladies' she states...granddad isn't allowed any because 'it doesn't work on granddads' smile

LOL that is too funny about the cranberry juice!!

Fruit salads are really great, and so good for you too! I sometimes get the pre-mixed ones in the supermarket. Do you have a favorite fruit in there? I love the orange melon.

I love fruit salads, even for breakfast. I always add walnuts as we're trying to get our omega3's. I love kiwi and berries but will put whatever kind of fruit we have available. It's a good way to use up odds and ends.

I've never tried nuts on a fruit salad! To me that's a salty sensation that I wouldn't mix in. Maybe I should try it sometime!

Hi --

I do eat something every morning. I found the Kashi 7 Whole Grain Puffs (15-1 fiber carbs, no sugars) and General Mills Fiber One Bran Cereal (25 carbs-14 fiber and no sugar). Both are tasty and I will put berries on it sometimes.

I also still can buy the Atkins Advantage Choc Peanut butter bars.

And blueberries on cottage cheese.

RE Smoothies -- if you see the Vita Mix blender (Costco has them by special demo days) it makes the best smoothies. Also does hot soup and ice cream. We've had ours over 10 years -- worth every penny of the $400 we spent on it. The Costco price is even less. This is the very best blender on the planet. No lumpy remains.

Okay, regarding fiber vs. carbs - what makes it a good mix? Is it the higher the fiber content, the lesser the carb count? How does that work? I see people post things like "20 carbs and 15 fibers..."

I don't really like to get diet food that has fake sugar in it -- though I used to be ADDICTED to the atkins coconut bars. Mmmmmm.... I could eat one - and drag it out for about 20 minutes just savoring it bit by bit. But fake sugar bugs my digestive track.

Besides, I think I've read somewhere that the fake sugars actually slow down weight loss.

Cynde, I've seen the Vita Mix blender at Costco before! I will definately have to keep my eyes open for it (especially if it's a good deal).

Lisa -- The "back to basics" blender is NOT at all like the Vita Mix. They serve completely different purposes.

The Vita Mix is about $350-$400 and is what the Smoothie places use. You can put just about anything into it and it makes a smooth liquid. I take various fruits, for example apples, seeds/core and all, and add other fruits plus some ice, perhaps a piece of cabbage, and I can drink it.

It also makes HOT soup or frozen orange ice, or peanut butter. None of these can a regular blender do.

And it cleans itself -- just put some water and a small bit of soap -- turn it on and it's clean!
