LMAO. Not sure about getting riled up, that article was just the giggle I needed. I guess though it's easy for me to chuckle here in Australia because where I live it's more common to come across people into alternative lifestyles as opposed to devout Christians. I wouldn't be laughing if they were my neighbours.

Oh yea, that worked. I'm seriously riled up. Unfortunately, I'm too tired to type the full-length rant that went through my head as I read that idiotic garbage. Maybe you'll get it tomorrow, if others don't say what I'm thinking first.

Does it get me riled up that thee are people who actually think this way? Nope, they are entitled to their opinions, just like I'm entitled to mine. What DOES get me riled up is their claim to have moral authority from God and that this gives them the right to force their opinions on everyone else. Frankly, I think fundamentalist Christians are just as dangerous as fundamental Muslims.
The church (doesn't matter which one) has a vested interest in their followers having kids. Raise 'em in that religion and it's more members, donations and "true believers" for the church. The more true believers, the more Christian Soldiers out there trying to force their agenda on others.
My parents tried really hard to raise me in their religion (one of the protestant denominations) but I knew from about age 8 or 9 that it was not for me. I dropped organized religion asap once I reach majority. One big reason was their attitude towards having kids seriously differed from mine. Another was that I never got how one denomination could have the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth while all the other denominations had it all wrong.
Besides, if God really wants all women to have children, then why doesn't He just impregnate them Himself? After all, there is that little thing about Virgin Birth in the Scriptures. Therefore, if having kids was God's plan for all women and if God is omnipotent, then it would follow that a little thing like a woman not having a husband or using birth control would stop God from carrying out his plan.

That didn't really get me riled up as it was all about God and as I don't believe in God anything that is argued from a religious point of view just makes me think ' meh'.
If the BLOKE had written about childfree couples without bringing religion into it and insulted our choice then maybe it would have brought a reaction to me...
Perhaps he is annoyed as his wife doesn't want babies?

BBBWWWWAAAAHHHHH, ok that did not rile me up at all, I thought it was pretty funny actually. So I wonder what they would say to those, both Men and Women, who want kids and are physically unable to have them ??? Does this mean they are cursed or being punished by God ??? What about the marriage, if they are unable to have kids together does this mean if one is able to have kids, he/she then gets a "cheat ok" card so they can have children??? Yes I know I am being a real smart alec here, sorry.
Articles like that are EXACTLY why I do not belong in organized religion.

I hate to upset anyone's view of the universe, but the "Scriptures" were written by MEN, THOUSANDS of years ago. They reflect a worldview that hasn't actually existed for generations.
As I recently posted in this forum, religion is for procreation to grow their religion. You don't hear "Christians" saying, "We need to maintain the world's Muslim birthrate" now do you? It is all about making more of their own. End of story.
And let me remind you that the population of every country is on the rise, as long as there IS a birthrate. In 1920, our population in the US was about 106 million. Recently it topped 300 million. Imagine all the extra jobs that have to be created to employ over double the people, while our industries are being sent overseas and machines are replacing people and the economy is tanking and businesses are downsizing.
What kind of crazy person would want to INCREASE the birthrate under those conditions??
I find the angle of this story repugnant. It is making light of what we all have chosen to do with our lives. I was a little surprised not to see myself quoted in the article -- not because of my vanity, but because religious publications have quoted me before.
Simply using the world "childless" implies a moral judgment, that quite frankly, I can't be bothered with.
"Willful barrenness and chosen childlessness"? Give me a break.

"Another woman in the Atlanta group explained, "you focus those motherly feelings elsewhere. For us, our dogs get all that love." That worldview is sick, but more and more common."
HA!
"Couples are not given the option of chosen childlessness in the biblical revelation. To the contrary, we are commanded to receive children with joy as God's gifts, and to raise them in the nurture and admonition of the Lord."
Commanded? I didn't see it in the Ten Commandments, so maybe it was just more of a "suggestion."

Yeah.. 'cos God takes care of all the mistreated animals, doesn't he/she/it? The way I see it.... I'm not responsible for bringing animals into this world, but I can try and make some of their lives better and cruelty free... However I *can* be responsible and not bring any more kids into this world, thus their lives will be cruelty free as there aren't any sprogs.
