Ah, well...I am going to make a coldwater schooling tank instead. No more goldfish for awhile, not until I build my koi pond (summer project). So I will add more danios and some cloud mountains and my paradise fish.
Hey, people. So many of you readers are emailing me goldfish questions, but really, you will get an answer back much quicker on this forum. So post about your goldies here, please!

Ok, someone gave me two comets (basically two grown-up feeder fish), so I have goldfish again. And I have a free koi coming to me soon (long story). So they will go in the 30 gallon with the coldwater schooling fish until I get that pond built.

the two comets are doing fine in my overstocked coldwater tank. They had a bout with ich from transport shock. I used QuIck Cure, and hoped it would not kill my mystery snail. But everything turned out fine and they are looking good. They will probably grow pretty big.

oh, and I won a koi pond n ebay! I am so excited! It's the standup kind you put on your deck and i can't wait to get it. I will put my free koi in it, and maybe my comets, and another kio and a shubunkin, with some lilies and cyperus. I am very much pleased. now I need a deck, but my hunny is going to start one for us in a few weeks. :music:

Wow Jilly! That is so neat!
Would that be the 'bucket' kind? I have seen them advertized on a site...a 20 gallon and a 40 gallon I believe. I had actually considered getting one of those to try spawning betta in during the warmer months. Figured I would just put mom and dad in there and see what happens. Gave up on that idea though I think. I had figured that being outdoors would make for lots of microorganism like things for fry to feed on...maybe one day I'll give it a try just to see.
Congrats on winning that pond!! :music:

I hadn't read this thread before, so I'm late in saying that I'm sorry you lost Duncan
But hurrah on winning the koi pond.
Photos will be appreciated! <img src="/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" />

Thanks for the nice words about Duncan, Nan. Those fancy goldfish don't acclimate too well - although once they make it past the danger period, you're set for 5-10 years with them!
Emg, it's the bucket kind, 60 gallons. Weee! you should get one for your alligators.

yay! My pond arrived and it's 45 gallons, really nice, really easy. I will update you all how the set-up goes, and provide a review. I will also make up an ad for it, if I think it's a good pond to buy. If anyone is intererested in getting one, I'd appreciate your clicking thru my link, to help support this site.
anyway, I might set it up inside, since we don't have anything resembling a porch or deck yet. I will look for some cyperus plants, lilies and koi. The koi at walmart seem pretty sick to me, so I will check out a few other places soon.
