I'm in a mid-size town and I don't see any bias one way or the other. I have young CF friends as well as older ones. There are plenty of child-free couples in our church as well as in the school system. Their immediate family members might be worrying them crazy about their choices, but I don't see anyone else giving it much thought.

Yes, I would totally move for a different lifestyle. I live in a very child friendly area and do not like it. My husband and I were going to put our house on the market and move closer to the city..but b/c of the hurricane Katrina there isn't any housing that were are interested in at the moment. I do agree to move for better opportunity but do think that your environment can play into your happiness as well as the types of people that you can befriend. If I could pick a place to move it would more than likely be Austin or North Carolina. I would like to stay close to the suburbs but close enough to the city for a cultural lifestyle as well....I don't find that in the suburbs. My husband and I hope for a transfer in the next couple of years so hopefully the next place we go will fit our "needs"!

I'm in California and there's a major baby boom going on, so we're still the odd ones out here.
In fact, my new niece was just born yesterday! Woohoo! Oops...sorry...this is a CF board.
Anyway, in CA there's the whole, "I can be a hotter mom than you" competition which is really hard to watch, and you definitely still get the pitying looks. I think it's worldwide right now. But probably the epicenter is the midwest.

I liked Coupling, but did you notice the show ended when a baby entered the scene?
Cindy They always do. But for me, the show ended when Jeffrey left. Oh ... Jeffrey!

Gawd yes... my SIL is obsessed with staying skinny (size 0-2 after 2 kids) so she can be a MILF. And she's SO proud of it. Gimme a break.

EWWWWWWW! Who wants to be called a MILF? Yuck. My DH's uncle married a woman with two kids, and the first time DH met her, she proudly told him, "Hi, I'm so-and-so. I'm the MILF."
Seriously? My old boss had three kids and was a size 0. Once, we were sitting around talking and landed on the subject of accomplishments. I told her mine (school, career, etc.) and she said (honestly!), "I'm proud that I didn't get fat."
Hooray for being slim and healthy, but that's certainly not included in my major life goals!

Mom I'd Like to F***
It's disgusting. I REALLY don't like these labels that women are getting. It's like we're stepping back into the stone age.
MILF, Cougar, etc. I think it's extremely disrespectful.

i posted a similar question about moving and being CF. i can understand people wanting to move to try to meet more CF people. for me it's not only that but also many other reasons why i personally want to move. my hubby really doesn't want to move right now but he's a lot more open to it and says that if the right job came along we would definitely consider it. also he says that eventually he'd like to move also maybe in 5-15 yrs. we'll see. it's a start and i'm really happy about it. like i said i have other reasons why i want to move. i feel really stagnant here, i don't have a lot of career ops here, more people we know are moving or have moved,i dont' see a lot of my current friends that much, b/c of where i live(i hate the winters here ) i don't get out much during that time of yr. etc..
i do realize that even if we move it doesn't automatically mean that we'll find more CF people but it does mean a change and that's what i'd be looking for in general. i agree with what other people have said that if you're truly unhappy where you are then you might want to think about moving. i also agree that cities not all but some would tend to have more CF people or at least people w/o kids. i think that is yet another great thing about being CF is having so many options like the possibility of moving when you want. when you have kids there are so many other things to think about.

MILF sounds so much like MILK, which reminds me of mother. I don't care how hot someone is, I would not be interested in a guy that had kids. But that's just me.
As far as someone introducing herself that way - she must have really low self-esteem. It's like saying "I had kids, but I'm still good looking." That's cool, but are you interesting? I'm thinking you don't bring much to the table if MILF is your calling card. How embarrassing.
I wouldn't move to be around more CF people, but I would move to be around more intelligent or interesting people. I couldn't wait to get out of the Philadelphia suburbs. The people for the most part are NOT interesting. They are all very generic, and very much like one another. They don't think - they just do. No interesting conversation.
Now we are in Southern Florida, and I don't know that many people yet. The body culture is pretty big down here. I can kind of understand why, because by summertime, I'm sure people are walking around wearing next to nothing. It's pretty hot down here.
I do feel better since I've left my old community b/c it was pretty stifling there. I think it was worse b/c I had connections with people that buy into breeding. And got invited to stuff related to them and their kids. At least here, I don't have to deal with all of the social obligations. And, because I'm not around people I knew when I was 12, I am free to grow even more. I know some people are really into maintaining contact with everyone from their past, but I feel like, when I no longer have common interests with someone, it's time to move on. It feels pointless to me. A change of scenery can be really good for a person, and even though uprooting your life is stressful (I know, believe me) I think it's really worth it.
I think I've said this before, but it captures how I feel. I like to visit the past occasionally, but I don't want to live there.
