I love folding soft, warm towels right out of the dryer this time of year, but we try to get two uses out of each towel. We hang them up to dry and everybody knows which towel is theirs. It may be that we hang ours close to the heat and air vents in the bath, but they are completely dry pretty quickly and certainly by the next day.

Skyhaven - some people have told me the reason they start with a brand new towel the next day is that their towel would be damp otherwise, i.e. that it doesn't dry fully in that day.
So I'm curious if anybody who showers on one day but leaves their towel on the rack finds it to still be wet the next day. In our house it's always dry - but we have a dry house apparently!
All of the research I've done on the web says that each person should have their own color towel, meaning they are using them more than once, and that the color helps them to keep using the same.

I'm joining this thread late, but I must say I find it humorous how the thread goes from "Food and Wine" to "Low Carb" to...a discussion on towel-changing frequency! YAY, I'm in. I shower once a day in the morning; I fold my towel in half long-ways, fold it over the rod, and it's always dry the next day. So I use that towel for a week. I do towels and sheets in the same load. I'd love to say that I change sheets every week, but I don't. To some, that may sound gross. But when I work out after work, I shower before bed. So my sheet-changing might go 10 days. My towels, however, are a different story, because I usually wipe some kind of lotion or makeup on them as I'm getting ready in the morning...or evening. So just because I can see the towels are marked, I'll wash them more frequently. Mind you, I live alone. When my boyfriend comes over, he sees only clean towels and clean sheets.

My towels are getting dry overnight, but I've had the heat on. So, it may not work when the AC is on. BTW, I must not ring out my washcloths very well as I usually find them still quite damp! But, I don't reuse them anyway.

I wash bath towels, hand towels and bed linens once a week. I actually enjoy doing it. But I also put out a fresh face washcloth and fresh kitchen towel every night, so I can enjoy clean linens in those areas each morning. It makes me happy. I add the used ones to the pile of linens that I wash every week, and have a nice big fluffy stack of fresh scented washcloths and dishtowels to pull from.

OK we rarely clean our dishtowel (not once a week at least) but we rarely use it because we have a dishwasher. Maybe we should wash it weekly even so ...

Um, Lisa, how do you clean counter/tabletops? And, your hands in the kitchen? Because that's how I end up using tons of wiping cloths and dishtowels in the kitchen.
Plus, I handwash my pots & pans.

I'm part of the Amazon vine program so they sent me a 12 pack of an "all natural counter cleaner" from Seventh Generation. So we are still working our way through those bottles, and I use that to clean my counters and such. That works with paper towels, not with a dish towel.
I wash my hands in the bathroom sink which is right next to the kitchen, rather than in the food area.

Oh, I've had one roll of paper towels for several months now. That's why I have so many dishtowels in the laundry!
How do you like the cleaner? I've never tried Seventh Generation stuff, but I'm seeing it everywhere these days.
