Yes, it looks that way. I had twelve inches cut off my hair almost three years ago and donated it to locks of love, but here I am now with it even longer and down to my waist now and straight. There are times I tire of it, but then again, I like it.

Yikes, Rosie. You live in an expensive area. It doesn't take any more time to cut off hip length hair than it does shoulder length.

Ok... we're talking dollars here, right?
So take off the dollar sign, leave the figures as they are - 45 - 75... and put a pound sign in front.
That's genuine UK prices for you. Outside of London.
In the capital, we're hitting the eighty to one-hundred pound mark at times....

Well, no wonder I cut my own hair! LOL

But, seriously, how about those quick-cut places like Fantastic Sams, Supercuts and so on? I mean, it's not like you want a celebrity stylist to make you look like Angelina Jolie is it?

Oh, how about an old-fashioned man's barber shop. My ex got the best haircuts at one of those, and he paid half what other places charge.

I cut my own hair too... it's a short practical cut.
I went into a hairdresser's and this is how it went...

"Excuse me, could you just look at my hair?" said I, "What do you think of the cut?"

hairdresser looks at my head.
"Yeah...no, it's ok actually, good cut. Cheryl, what do you think of this cut?"
Cheryl comes over. she is senior stylist, she charges 50.00 for her sevices to hairdressing....
"Yeah, I like it. Quite short at the back - why, are you not happy with it?"
"No, I'm quite happy with it.... I just wanted your opinion..."
"Yeh," continues Cheryl, "It's a really good cut... where did you get it done?"
"I cut it." I replied."I did it myself at home. With some electric trimmers, a pair of thinning scissors and a comb. infront of my dressing-table mirror."

Silence. Then,

"D'you want a job?"

LOL Alexandra! Brilliant!

When I lived in London (10 years ago), I had very short hair and I would just pop in to one of those no appointment salons (can't remember the name, but it's a franchise and they're usually near train stations and airports. They also just used electric trimmers, and that cost me either 5 pounds (no wash) or 7 pounds (with a wash).

I usually trim my own hair - which is very easy when it is waist length. Rosie, this might work for you: I just parted my hair down the middle and brought the two pieces forward and then hacked up into it because I wanted a rough choppy look. I cut the pieces closest to my face just below my chin, and then cut longer and longer pieces ending at the middle each way. It looked fine to me in the mirror.

Last year I went to a hair salon for the first time since my wedding! I was going to be travelling so I wanted it just on my shoulder blades and I wanted a colour. The hairdresser was an absolute sweetheart - worked on my hair for almost 3 hours: cut, colour, and highlights, and charged me AUD$120 (I had $300 ready for that lot).
