I think you put that very well, LinuxLady, and of course I laugh "with" you. Of course I think you could get some intense flamage, so at least you expect it.

Here's another primo example of doing everything "right" as parents (providing good home, disciplining well, emphasizing good grades, etc.) and something else beyond your control steers your kid off-track:
Quote:
My son is daling with issues from early childhood. He was molested. Well lately he is showing acting out sexual behavior. Almost to the point of obssesion I dont know where to get help for him. I am afraid of him victimizing younger children. He has already acted out with his older sister. He fondled her while she was asleep. Help I dont know what to do.

Well, I was a very GOOD girl all my life - never took risks, never had any vices. I had an attitude, though (still do.) I didn't like the kids who goofed off, either. I guess there is just an angel halo over my head!

I don't know. There is a risk in so many things. I could be married to an ax-murderer. Thankfully, he hasn't been giving me looks with the meat cleaver. crazy You never know how people and relationships will turn out.

Don't get me wrong. I'm happily childfree and intend on staying that way, but I didn't choose that lifestyle because I was afraid of how a kid might turn out. It just isn't my thing. However, if I had the burning desire to have a child, I would consider the world I would be bringing the kid into. It seems a lot of parents don't.

LinuxLady....Darwinism in action....I love it. I have heard of the Darwin awards. I do tend to agree with you in that vein (tongue only slightly firm in cheek).

I'm watching it now. The mattress surfing thing actually doesn't look so bad to me. I understand it can get out of hand (like the case in which a boy died), but the four kids they featured seemed like they were being somewhat safe about it. I dunno, I just feel like boys will be boys sometimes and they're not bothering anyone else.

Sometimes they DO bother someone else though.
Not so much now but a few months ago in the UK there seemed to be teens killing each other every week (or more)
(Deliberately.)

Like I've said before for me it's mainly the teenage stage that puts me off although it's not JUST that - it's the parenting lifestyle I don't want.
I don't mind kid that much even though I don't want my own and like I said I work with them BUT I work with three and four year olds. I wouldn't work with older. Now
when someone has a baby that's not (usually) the end of it!
Do you
know I did a search on "Mother of a teenager" you know to see if there were any blogs etc. and there were things like the mother of a teenager who killed himself and similar!
(I wasn't expecting THAT!)
Like I've also said before, my brother went through a drug abuse and alcoholism stage that was awful for the rest of us and yet mum and dad I think were and are good parents in so many ways!
Yes he (and I) was adopted but even so I know of kids whose biological parents are great and the kids are terrible!!

I leave the child-rearing to people who feel called to it. I've never felt that call.
