A totem is any entity which watches over or assists a group of people, such as a family, clan or tribe. It can also be a personal spirit animal helper, which has special meaning to a single individual.
Given this definition I would like to point out the fact that despite the Scof our fellow pagans may give each other about them "fantasy" creatures such as Dragons and unicorns can and are totem spirits as well.
