And the older you are when you fall pregnant the greater the chances of a multiple birth. Now that's frightening!

You know what's scary about that is that I always thought those were fertility drug induced, but that's not really true. A woman's body starts really unloading all the eggs as they start to run out. How cruel is that- for nature to give an older lady TWINS!!

Close friends - married for 12 years decided to have "just one" - that way they could still enjoy their holidays, restaurants etc. They are now the proud but very tired parents of twin girls - they are finding it very tough as both babies have had colic on and off since birth and don't sleep well. They were told by their doctor that she has delivered six sets of naturally conceived twins to older first time parents this year and one set of triplets! There was no history of multiple births in any of the families. The couple that had triplets are in their early 40s!

THAT'S what we need! The ultimate no-baby shower: Menopause parties!
No children invited. Appropriate gifts would be travel books/brochures, gift certificates to fine restaurants or bed & breakfasts, fragile glass knickknacks, help redecorating the spare bedroom, etc. Lots of great appetizer-type foods served buffet style. Activities would include wine-tasting, intellectual board games (like the original Trivial Pursuit)....
*sigh* That sounds so fun. I wish I could do that every month to celebrate my lack of babies.

I'm pretty good at off the wall parties. I had a 33 1/3 party to celebrate that milestone, and a "divorce his hairy a$$" party when my divorce became final. A menopause party shouldn't be a problem!
Ah, good times...

I like the idea of a once a month party to celebrate not being pregnant - kind of like the anti-baby shower.

I was glad to see no one agreed with her (as of yet),but still to just want someone to have children so your kids has someone to play with seems selfish. Especially, when she acknowledges that her brother would make a poor father. My brother and his wife are planning on not having any children ever. I can't help but want them to have at least one kid so I can be an aunt and so that their kid can play with mine. Unfortunately I know if my SIL got pregnant the hormones alone would make her kill my brother because he's very immature sometimes, well, ok, most of the time.

I just thought this one was sad. Perhaps this is a normal fantasy for pregnant women? With 3 me too...perhaps not. I just woke up from a dream during which I was in love with a gorgeous man who wasn't my husband, and was free to go to Italy with him. Then I woke up pregnant and married. Oh.
