I think you can.

i didn't have much luck with vonage and I had excellent internet service. After 4 modems I gave up with them and asked for the hundreds back I had spent.

Hopefully you have better results

How did you spend hundreds on it?

cost of the modems to use with phones, and returning them when they didn't work (they don't cover S&H on returns). And the monthly costs while they were trying to figure out why it wasn't working with my dsl when they said it would when I first signed up.

as long as you don't have wireless dsl or broadband you are fine. Vonage will NOT work with wireless bb which is what took so long to figure out.

I wouldn't not try them out.

Your friends can download icall and talk to you free.
the quality is good.
But they will need a PC.

Sometimes I check in, but don't say anything because I don't have a lot of time. I'm soooo busy lately, but I still care about what is going on here.
