Aaron is truly one of the most underappreciated greats in the history of the game. He played consistently well over a very long career. What do you think about the fact that Barry Bonds is closing in on the career home run record of 755?

Hank Aaron hit 755. He was a great player who had a lot of luck and no injuries. He batted over 12,000 times.

If Bonds stays healthy he could pass Aaron. Baseball fans have no respect for Bonds. There will be no pleasure in the new record. I do not think Mark McGwire, Raphael Palmeiro or Barry Bonds will ever see the Hall of Fame.

My prediction is that Bonds passes Aaron and in a few years A-Rod passes Bonds.

I hope A-Rod passes both. He has homered 6 times in the first 8 games of 2007.

744 now. Like him or not, he's a great player. Too bad he hasn't done much to help people like him!

He will, but there should be no fan fare over it and even Hank Aaron won't be there when it happens.

Bonds is one of the Oakland brats (Conseco, McGuire, Giambi, Stewart, etc. Steriods, steroids, steriods. Apparently he must be off of them as he has gained a ton of weight. I just hope he doesn't end up as a Yankee - dh'ing. Giambi is finished as a Yankee. He spoke the truth - but will be punished for it.

Same as Conseco speaking the truth - and look where it got him.

Or as a nation - will we tolerate Bond because of his race?

It's ashame that Hank Aaron was never really appreciated for what all he accomplished in his day and time. Punish the good and let the bad continue to be praised.

I still love watching Bonds play. He's at the end of his career and the pitchers are (rightfully so) still afraid to pitch to him.

I was glad to see the record fall last night. One of the highlights was definitely Aaron's recorded speach. He showed class with that ... a lot more than Selig.

McGwire has not been accused of using steroids has he? He admitted to using a legal substance which was not banned at the time and ceased using it when asked to do so, although it was still not banned.
