i confess, i'd rather have a bad cup of coffee than no coffee when i've gotten it in mind. There are a couple brands that i really like, though. One is Equal Exchange organic coffee. It's from a company started by Catholic nuns. They wanted to buy coffee where they didn't have to feel guilty that the people working the fields were empoverished and exploited, so they set up a company much like a co-operative. The coffee costs more because the workers get fair wages and profits and there are farmer partnerships, but it also happens to be very good tasting coffee. Equal Exchange sells tea and chocolate, too, but i've only tasted their coffee so far.

It didn't work trying to help those two families, by the way. I told my friend the house was: in a great neighborhood, large, with a big yard, in good condition and only needed the carpet replaced, is listed at $75,000 under what the bank values the house to be (because the seller is approaching foreclosure), can either be a duplex or a single home dwelling, and that as a century home she can qualify for special home improvement grants, etc.
AND i told her i would walk over there with her... and i couldn't even get her to go look at the house!
I told her she's just LOOKING at it, she doesn't have to buy it... and she wouldn't go look! She and her husband have looked at 60 houses over the last two years... put a bid on one or two but didn't get them.
So that really tells me this is all about fear.
I can understand that... since i struggle with fears myself. But it's frustrating because i really believe it would be so advantageous to both parties! She could rent out half and let that pay for the mortgage, or, turn around and sell it in the next year for at least a $40,000 profit! She won't do it.
Oh well.
i tried.

Holly,
some people have a desire to fail. Your friendd belongs to that group. They complain about their bad luck and hard work but do not grab the chance when it comes.

I don't know if she has a desire to fail, cd. She's just a very anxious person and worries constantly, though sometimes she's a little better or worse. She knows she has a problem with anxiousness and negativity, and is trying to get a hold of her worries as best she can. I guess i can sympathize with her because i know i often make foolish decisions, too, out of fear. It can be a hard thing to fight against.

Today i am looking forward to getting some work done. It has been enjoyable to get things done and see results. Tonight i'll have clean sheets on the bed and i'm so looking forward to a good night's sleep! I have my knitting group this afternoon. And i'm making progress on a vest for an upcoming class. And i'm sitting here enjoying coffee.

Do you ever think how the weather helps us to enjoy contrast?
Right now it is hot and very humid. I look forward to the cold chill of fall. When i have cold fingers i'll look forward to warmth, but now i look forward to cold fingers.
