However, you all feel the same way about the pledge the way we (Christians) feel about not having the option of prayer in school. At least with the pledge you are given an option.
You believe in evolution and we believe in Creationism and we do not have that option of either/or.
Evolution vs creationism is not the same as pledge vs no pledge. If you want to pledge allegence to your god then go ahead. Does it need to be out loud. Can you not just think "I love you , god" throughout the day. Why should I or anyone else be forced into saying it with you?
Now for evolution; the theory of evolution in no way suggests there is no god. I for one do not believe there is a god but there could be a god and evolution could be his mechanism for creating humanity. Evolution is science, evolution is established, evolution is observable and can be predicted. You choosing not to believe in evolution does not mean your children should be put at the disadvantage of not being taught it. It is a fundamentally important theory and in most modern countries of the world this discussion would not be taking place. What other science do you disregard? Do you still live in an Earth centred universe or have you now accepted that one in the face of the evidence along with the rest of the world including the Catholic church. I do not mean to be condescending but my point is you accept science in most areas of you life but choose to believe a story instead when it comes to the development of life on this planet.
You are right , you do not have the option of being taught creationism in school. I would not argue against the story of creation being taught in a religious studies class but hope it never comes to a point where a myth with no supporting evidence is given the same platform as science.
