We don't go to the movies anymore. Part of being CF is that we have a fairly nice movie setup in the living room. It's not super extravagant, but it certainly works for us. We even have our own popcorn machine in the corner on its own stand, and we buy boxes of Goobies and Raisinettes at Target, cheap for the movie snacking experience. Ok, so the plastic popcorn tubs we have say Pokemon on them, but at the time, that is all that the place had in that size smile (I never said it was perfect smile smile )

All we do is wait the few months for a movie to come out on DVD and we have our own private showing whenever we want, with no kids, no sticky floors, no overpriced popcorn, and we can pause the movie for bathroom breaks. smile And the money laid out per showing is a heck of a lot cheaper, too!

Our local movie theater has found a way to avoid having the parking lot become a teen hangout- they blast Broadway show tunes at high volume. Works, and since I happen to like show tunes, makes me like that place even more!

I hear ya though- I certainly wasn't allowed to go to movies alone until I was well into my teens, or go to movies that were not appropriate for my age. Ugh...

I am walking out the door to see Pirates of the Caribbean at the local $3 theater. I am anticipating lots of kids, but JD and OB are WORTH IT!!

There was this group of teenagers that were purposely talking VERY loud all through the previews and then for the first 5 minutes of the movie, screaming out obnoxious things.

I was about to go to the management when they stopped. Maybe someone told them to shut up.

Other than that, it was better the 2nd time. And I even stayed to watch the very, very end with Orly Jr.

My biggest problem at the theatre is usually with adults. It amazes me that with the stadium seating we now have they can't keep their dang feet off the back of my seat. There is always someone kicking my chair and you would think it would be a kid, but nooooo. It is an adult. I usually have to flash them a dirty look and yell out "who's kicking the back of my chair"? in order to get them to stop.

I also seem to attract those who decided to bathe themselves in perfume. They come and sit next to me and then I have to get up and move because that stinky junk gives me migraines. I don't understand why people have to put so much perfume on. Of course they always come and sit next to me after the theatre has pretty much filled up and there are hardly any seats left. It makes my husband sooooo mad.

Hi,
I think HP is mainly targeted towards kids, although it enjoys many adult fans as well (myself being one). But, like someone said, obviously the child was too young to be at the movie if she didn't understand anything that was going on. Anyone that talks excessively during a movie is annoying! And I always love when someone speaks up (although I'm too chicken to do so). So you guys were in the right. Others probably felt the same way.

I had two experiences of kids being at age-inappropriate movies as well. I was with my brother at The Bourne Supremacy (rated R, I believe), and a guy was there with two young boys. They were probably 3 and 5, I don't know, I'm not good at judging ages. They were actually quite well behaved, for having absolutely nothing to properly entertain themselves. They played with each other mostly, and occassionally asked questions. I could not believe someone would take them to such a violent movie! I was just appalled at that. Poor kids, they must have been so bored, not to mention being exposed to something which they should not have been. And another time at GhostRider (my friend wanted to see it, I didn't), a woman was there with two kids, about the same ages. They were whispering/talking throughout the whole movie. She didn't do anything, just sat there. A movie is not a babysitter no matter how much you'd like it to be!
